In a post earlier this year, we looked at Merritt Gneiser’s his-tory and his marriage to Irene Feyerherm in 1940. The Corn Shelling ad was placed by Merritt’s father, Paul Gneiser, in the December 3, 1925 issue of the Raymer Enterprise. Paul married Bertha Nickerson, who was one of Albert Nickerson’s daughters, a family who came to New Raymer from Nebras-ka. The Gneiser farm, southwest of town, is shown here.

As written on the back of the photo, the girl on the left is Andy Berks’ daughter. IAndy may be taking this photo-graph. Andy was a dear old guy who the kids in town would visit and play piano or enjoy playing in his back-yard which had a wishing well and a large garden. Be-fore Andy, Mrs. Pinkerton lived in the bank building.

The official designation was on September 25, 2019 in recognition of this property’s contribution to the heritage of the State of Colorado.
