MUSIC BANQUET: Sunday, June 5 th : DEADLINE FOR RSVP: April 8 th The Music Banquet will be on June 5 th , from 2 to 6 pm at the Devens Common Center. Invitations were sent in February. RSVPs need to be returned to Mr. McCarthy or Mrs. Glenis- ter. GRADUATION: Sunday, June 12 th Graduation this year is scheduled for Sunday, June 12 th . Band and choral students will be performing. Folks interested in learning more about the open po- sitions should contact Paula Castner at nrhs- [email protected] FRIENDS OF DRAMA NEWS “It was the best show I have ever seen here in 22 years,” remarked one former faculty mem- ber. “The costumes were amazing… Broadway quality!” hailed another fan. Yet another was astounded and asked “how did they do that?” in regard to the special effects that enabled Fester to float in space while he sang to the moon. On the weekend of March 18, 19, and 20, audiences were wowed by Nashoba Drama’s Spring Musical, “the Addams Family,” under the direction of Mr. Bill Grady. Near sell-out crowds filled the house as the “creepy, kooky” Addams Family members and their ancestors came to life. Kudos also to the combined success of many parents committee members for their time and tremendous effort in coordinating and exe- cuting those amazing tasks such as publicity, ticket sales, front-of-house décor, hair and make-up, costumes, props, set construction and painting, to name a few. We hope you were among those who had the opportunity to enjoy this spectacular show! The Friends of Drama Board would like to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to all the parents, administrators, custodians, tech- nical crew, and our amazing actors who made this production possible. We would like to especially thank Bill Grady, our Director; Rob Nierintz, our Artistic Director; Melissa Lynch, our Choreographer; and Mike Hoffman, our Music Director for sharing their time and talent. The next Friends of Drama meeting will be held on Wednes- day, April 5 th , 2016, at 6:00 pm in the auditorium lobby. All interested parents are welcome to attend. The FOD board is looking for a new co-secretary as well as some new committee chairs for next year. An Introduction to the Transition Planning Process Wednesday, April 27

from 7 – 9 PM Room 216, Nashoba Regional High School

Massachusetts law requires Transition planning must begin at age 14 and continue throughout the high school years as students prepare to journey into a full and inclu-sive adult life. Coordinated and continuous transition preparation promotes better post-school outcomes for students with disabilities. This introductory transition workshop, presented by the Federation for Children with Special Needs, will address:

The development of self-advocacy and self-determination skills to support a student’s vision

How Transition Assessments identify students’ strength

How the Transition Planning Form guides planning for meaningful opportunities in education, train-ing, employment and independent living.

This program is appropriate for anyone with a child who will require special education transition planning within the next two years. This FREE workshop is open to the public.

ENDOWMENT FUND NEWS NRHS Endowment Fund is providing an opportunity to appreciate NRHS staff for the 2015-2016 school year. Come experience the Greenwood Memorial Swim Club, a year round competitive swim team. We are made up of swimmers ages 6-19 and of a variety of skill levels. We have two pools for our swimmers. One at the Recreation Center at Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg and the second at the Fitness and Wellness Center at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner. Swimmers compete in meets in the Worcester County Swim League and throughout New England as members of United States Swimming. No team/competition experience is necessary. You just have to love the water.

Tom Denney Nature Camp

Join us at the Tom Denney Nature Camp where we play games and have adventures while learning about nature

TDNC Program: Activities include games in the woods and fields, swimming, Predator & Prey, The Amazing Race, Mystery Animal, tracking, hiking, exploring, arts & crafts, songs, campfires, shelter building, meet animals from the visiting Animal Adventures program & more. Campers must be entering the 1st-8th grade.

TDNC ECO ADVENTURES Older Campers Program: Activities include kayaking with Still River Outfitters, rock climbing at Central Rock Climbing Gym with harnesses & ropes, an overnight sleeping in the big tent, raft building competition, team building activities, a conservation project & more. This program is for campers who are entering middle school (grades 6th-8th). Campers this age may choose this program or the TDNC program.

TDNC Counselor in Training Program: Applicants for Counselor in Training must be entering 9th or 10th grade. CITs must attend a mandatory 3 day Orientation and work a minimum of 2 weeks. CITs gain valuable work experience and have fun.

Bolton Local Sustainability Contest 2016 How can you or we be more sustainable?

The Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary defines Sustainable as, a : of, relating to, orbeing a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted orpermanently damaged <sustainable techniques> <sustainable agriculture> b : of orrelating to a lifestyle involving the use of sustainable methods <sustainable society>.

What is Bolton Local?

A grassroots group of people from Bolton, Massachusetts, whose mission is to build a strong, self-reliant community made up of people committed to living sustainably on the planet, in a way thatinspires, builds friendships, and offers a hopeful vision for the future.
