The Conformation Shows Chairman and/or any member of his/her immediate family shall not be eligible to exhibit dogs owned or co-owned by them in conformation at the shows that they are chairing. Obedience Trials Chairman will be eligible to exhibit at the Trials.

NOTE: Novice, Amateur Owner Handler, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Brace Classes will NOT be offered.

BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The Judge will award Select Dog/Bitch and Award of Merit following Best of Breed Judging.

AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIES COMPETITION Must be owner-handled by a non-professional handler. Must be marked on the entry form by checking the selection box at the bottom of the entry form. Follows Best of Breed Judging.

Bred by Exhibitor (BBE) Class eligibility All dogs entered in the Bred by Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. To exhibit in this class, family members must be a breeder and owner of record. In any subsequent classes for which a dog from the Bred-by-Exhibitor class becomes eligible, there are no restrictions as to who may handle.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES Veteran Classes –The Veteran classes are open to Dogs and Bitches 7 years of Age or Older. Winners of these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed Competition. Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches are eligible to compete in this class. Best in Bred By Exhibitor: The Best in Bred By Exhibitor classes will be chosen from the winners of the Bred By Exhibitor Dog class and the Bred By Exhibitor Bitch class. If one of the two was Best of Winners, there will be no competition and dog/bitch chosen Best of Winners will also be Best in Bred By Exhibitor. Parade of Champions, Title Holders, Veterans and Rescues (Non-Competitive): Dogs entered in this class need not be entered in a Regular Class. This class will not be judged. Cut downs welcome. A brief history of the dog is required (show committee reserves the right to edit). Each dog will receive a ROSETTE imprinted with the name of the dog.

FOUR-TO-SIX MONTH (Beginner Puppy) COMPETITION Must be handled by a non-professional handler. AKC Registration OR Litter Number is required. Exhibitors should open their dog’s mouth for examination. Males with undescended testicles need NOT be excused but CM points will be withheld. No taping, gluing or stitching allowed in the ring. Class NOT divided by sex.

Note: Beginner Novice A - shall be for dogs that have not won the BN title. A handler must own the dog entered or be a member of the owner’s household or immediate family and may not have previously handled any dog that has earned an AKC Obedience title. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. Note: Beginner Novice B – The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class to earn a BN title. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. Note: No dog may be entered in both Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B at the same trial. Note: Dogs may be entered in both the Regular and Preferred classes at the same trial.

Breed and Toy Group Obedience Rules and Regulations

Trials will be held in air-conditioned ballroom.

Limit of 20 dogs each Trial will be accepted.

Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) registrations are accepted to enter both Breed Obedience and Toy Group Obedience classes.

According to hosting a Toy Group obedience trial offered at this specialty, the acceptance of Yorkshire Terrier entries will have priority over other Toy breeds. Pertaining to Toy Group entries, if your entry is received before the numerical limit but not accepted, your entry fee will be returned.

Prizes offered for both Toy Group and Yorkshire Terrier winners.

Qualifying Score required for all prizes in Regular Classes. Prizes will not be mailed.

“Dog” means either sex.

A reduced fee is provided for the same dog entered in a second obedience class within the same show (e.g. two classes in Breed obedience or two classes in Toy Group obedience.)

Refund of entry fees for bitches entered in Obedience that come in season after the closing date of this show may be obtained by sending a veterinarian’s certificate to the Show Secretary. This certificate must be postmarked before the opening day of the show or given to the Show Secretary before the show.

The request for a transfer must be in writing and presented to the trial secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each trial.

A dark green qualifying ribbon awarded to each dog with a qualifying score.

Unless otherwise indicated, the prizes reflect the generosity of the members of DVYTC whose names will be listed under that club’s section of the show catalog.

All prizes if not awarded in the ring must be picked up during the show(s).

DVYTC reserves the right to make prize substitutions of equal or greater value in the event a specific listed prize is not available.

Obedience Chairmen will be allowed to exhibit at these trials.

MORNING SHOW - SWEEPSTAKES

The Sweepstakes is open to all Yorkshire Terriers 6 months and under 18 months of age on the day of the show. They must also be entered in a REGULAR CLASS. The Sweepstakes will be judged before the Regular Classes. Sweepstakes Eligibility: Neither Champions nor puppies that have earned major wins are eligible for competition. The entry is to be made at the SAME TIME as entries for the Regular Classes and on the regular official entry form which should be marked “Sweepstakes” and age division in the space provided for “additional classes”. Entry fee is $10 per entry.

Mention DVYTC, Inc. Call (610) 372-7811. RESERVE EARLY. A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel with a special dog show rate of $109 + 6% sales tax / 5% occupancy tax per night. All rooms double beds. PETS: An additional $40 non-refundable fee per room/stay.

DINING: The Publick House Restaurant and Tavern will serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

HOSPITALITY AM: Inn at Reading will offer complimentary coffee from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Members of DVYTC will provide home baked items.

LOSS OR DAMAGE: The Delaware Valley Yorkshire Terrier Club, its members & the Inn at Reading will not be held responsible for the loss or injury to any dog exhibited whether it is the result of accident or other causes. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this event is in the care, custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the dog is on the show grounds. Do not leave a dog in a closed vehicle.

AGREEMENT I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim, and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. INSTRUCTIONS (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard). The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. (Dog Show Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the dog show class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e, age division, color division, weight division. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for a show closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. Entries Not on Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Entries received without fees will not be accepted. Acknowledgement of entries will be made as soon as practicable with tickets and/or identification cards. The person accompanying a dog must show tickets of admission and identification before the dog will be received. Should such acknowledgement not be received by the exhibitor within a reasonable time, please notify the Show Secretary.

Make All Checks and Money Orders payable to Delaware Valley Yorkshire Terrier Club (DVYTC). All payments must be made in U.S. FUNDS. Please mail checks or money orders with entries. Show Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Tabulate carefully. Due to cost of processing, no refunds $4.00 and under will be made. AKC Event Service and Recording Fees will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience Trial or Tracking Test. These Event Service and Recording Fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, these Fees are to be collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event's Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. Post Dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. No Refund for Duplicate Entries. Every effort to find all duplicate entries will be made; however, if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. An Administrative Fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries.

Errors on Entry Blanks: Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged.

All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising area. Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Show Secretary's Office advised at once. The Show Secretary and show-giving Club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the breed is over. No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted. Admission: $6.00 per guest.
