Fans and drivers should be prepared for traffic slowdowns both before and after the event. The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) wants drivers to be aware that construction activities are occurring on routes traditionally used by drivers on their way to the stadium. Drivers are en- couraged to pack their patience, allow extra time to get to the concert, plan ahead, and check www.511.nebraska.gov for real time traffic infor- mation. LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT MEETING Members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation expressed their views on subjects including infrastructure and relations with China in a “legislative summit” meeting Thursday. Flanked by vintage war planes at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum near Ashland, Nebraska’s two U.S. senators and three representatives addressed a wide variety of topics at a business-sponsored forum. Sen. Deb Fischer talked about the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill just passed by the Senate. Fischer, one of 19 Republicans who joined with Democrats voting for the bill, praised the bipartisan coop- eration. “I found it encouraging that we had Democrats in the United States Senate who reached out to Republicans to work on that infrastructure bill, ‘cause they didn’t need to. They could have written that bill on their own. They could have passed it on their own, through that process of reconcilia- tion. So I found that hopeful that we had Republicans who were able to have input into the bill,” Fischer said. Fischer said the bill would bring about $2.5 billion to Nebraska for roads and bridges, as well as additional money for improvements to airports, water infrastructure, and broadband. Fischer said those things could happen, despite Republicans having little leverage in the Senate or the House. The Nebraska football program is well represented on the 2022 Reese’s

Senior Bowl Watchlist, as 10 Huskers were recognized on Thursday

morning. Nebraska is one of six programs nationally with at least 10

members on the preseason watch list. The preseason list features

Huskers on both sides of the ball with six Blackshirts, including Damion

Daniels (DL), Marquel Dismuke (S), JoJo Domann (LB), Ben Stille (DL), Cam

Taylor-Britt (CB) and Deontai Williams (S). The Husker offensive players

recognized include Austin Allen (TE), Adrian Martinez (QB), Samori Toure

(WR) and Travis Vokolek (TE). The Reese’s Senior Bowl is the nation’s

most prestigious college all-star game, as it annually serves as the first

step of the NFL Draft process. The Reese’s Senior Bowl had 106 total

players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds this year’s NFL

Draft. The Reese’s Senior Bowl game will be held February 5, 2022, and

broadcast on the NFL Network. Practices will be live on ESPN and NFL

Network hosts a daily recap show each evening in primetime.

When the Royals and Braves were discussing a trade for Jorge Soler

near the Trade Deadline in July, they were targeting pitching as a re-

turn, and among that group, one prospect they were familiar with from

the 2019 MLB Draft stood out: Kasey Kalich. The Royals were high on

Kalich out of Texas A&M in ’19, which is why they were so excited to

land the power right-hander, who projects as a back-end bullpen piece

on a Major League staff one day. Since Kalich became a Royal, he’s

been acclimating to High-A Quad Cities, where he was reunited with his

former teammate, Asa Lacy, for a few days. “My head was spinning for

a little while after the trade,” Kalich said. “But overall, once I got on the

road and once I got to see a familiar face in Asa Lacy, the overall transi-

tion was good. I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve loved it. There’s a great group of

guys here. I’m happy to be here.” Kalich slots in as the Royals’ No. 24

prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. The Royals host the Cardinals this

weekend. Pregame coverage tonight on KBRL AM-FM starts at 6:30 p.m.
