Friday 8th December 2017 The Newsletter of King Henry VIII Preparatory School Academic Year 2017-2018 Issue 11
HEAD’S MESSAGE Dear parents Before anything else, this week I must say a huge con-gratulations to the children and staff in Reception and Nursery for their ‘Very Noisy Nativity’ and ‘Christmas sing-a-long’ respectively. The first prompted tears of laughter and the second tears of total joy, awe and wonder. At this particularly hectic time of the year, the privilege of sharing these priceless moments with chil-dren and families is a true highlight of the year. Snow! The forecast of snow has prompted a review and clarifi-cation of the procedures that we will follow in the event of a closure of the school due to adverse weather conditions. We will endeavour to make any decision by 6.30am and parents should expect to be notified in the following ways:
A notice on the school website A tweet from the school Twitter feed A parentmail notification
We realise that some parents make very difficult jour-neys each day so should snow fall during the school day, you may feel it necessary to collect your children from school early. In this instance, please contact the School Office rather than class teachers as they will not be able to see their email during lesson time. Any decision to close during the day will also be posted on the web-site and a message sent to parents. This would only ev-er be in an extreme weather situation!
We will always do our utmost to remain open whilst ensuring that the school site remains safe, as we know that child-care arrangements can otherwise be prob-lematic for parents.
Keep warm everyone and let’s hope that the worst of any weather stays away until we break up from school!
Kind regards,
Mrs G Bowser Headteacher
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK “Keep your face always toward the sun-shine - and shadows will fall behind you.” Walt Whitman
RIDDLE ME THIS… Last week’s riddle was: What has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps, can run but never walks, and has a bank but no money? SOLUTION: A river Our new riddle is: I go up and I go down, towards the sky and the ground. I’m present and past tense too, Let’s go for a ride, me and you. What am I?

GOODBYE This week we have had to say goodbye to Mrs Halford who has volunteered in our school libraries at both sites since September 2016. She has worked extremely hard to develop both libraries to make them a fantas-tic additional resource for all of our children to benefit from. There is now a huge range of books to choose from for children of all ages to enjoy. She will be sadly missed and wish her all the best and hope she can go on to fully her retirement.
