Friday 15 th April 2016 The Big Pedal Get set… we’re taking part in The Big Pedal 2016, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and scooting challenge that inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose two wheels for their journey to school. On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school. Our total number of bike and scooter rides will determine our final position in the challenge. We’ll be competing against other schools right across the UK, and if we clock up the most bike and scooter journeys we’ll win! All you need to do is encourage your child to cycle or scoot to school every day during the event, and join them on their way – parent and sibling journeys count too! For more information about the event go to www.bigpedal.org.uk Next week we would like as many children as possible to cycle to school for The Big Pedal. Please check your child’s bike over the weekend to ensure it is in good condition and if you have any problems why not visit one of the local cycle shops listed below. If your child loves cycling we have also listed two local cycle clubs for children who have weekend activities, please contact them for further information on times and prices. The Big Pedal

Get set… we’re taking part in The Big Pedal 2016, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and

scooting challenge that inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose two wheels for their journey

to school. On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest

Handwashing Hygiene Video

This week the whole school has been looking at handwashing hygiene and

very excitingly they have been using an ultra violet box to show the germs on

their hands, even after washing them! They have also been shown a video

which was produced by the Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Please

use this link to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTWiWRZ4PV4

• Paired shoes

• Accessories

RECEPTION NEWS: Reception visiting St Mary’s Church

The Reception classes are visiting St Mary’s Church on Wednesday 27th April.

Butterflies class will leave school at 9.30 am and Ladybirds class at 10.15 am. Please

speak to your class reps if you can help on this trip. Thank you.

YEAR 2 NEWS: Walk around Reigate

Next Tuesday, 26th April, Dragonflies and Honeybees will be walking around Reigate. Please can

you make sure that they bring to school with them on that day a water bottle, comfortable

shoes (trainers) and coats. Thank you.

WHOLE SCHOOL NEWS: We are now in the process of planning our lovely sports day on the field but we must remind you

that with the new surface you will not be able to eat any food there.

Also, for sports day please can you wear flat shoes such as trainers or flip flops – no heels at all.

In addition, you will need to bring picnic blankets to sit on because we cannot have

picnic chairs on the field. Heeled shoes and chairs would invalidate our warranty.

Thank you.

Reigate Parish Summer Fair Saturday 18th June 2016

12 noon - 3pm - save the date!

Well, the summer fair is fast approaching and we thought we'd pre-warn you of the items we'd

be asking you for. We're really grateful for all of your help, and we couldn't do this without

your contributions. Like previous years we'll be asking for items on different weeks, with

collections in the morning and afternoon.

Chocolate (any nut free items that can go on the chocolate tombola) Bottles (booze, bubble bath

etc) Soft toys (think of small, newish looking cuddlies that you'd like your child to win as a

prize) Filled jars (with sweeties, small toys, anything that can fit in a jam jar) Books (in as good

a condition as possible for a book stall)

The dates are:

w/c 25 April bottles

w/c 3 May chocolate

w/c 9 May soft toys and books

w/c 16 May filled jam jars

Please don't feel you have to stick to these weeks if you've got mountains of eg. jam jars to

bring in.

We'll position ourselves by drop off under the canopy from 8.40 am onwards.

Many thanks!
