Dear all,

Quite an amazing and eventful term. It started with a fabulous new intake of 230 new Year 7

students. They have been amazing and have flourished under the support of Mr Lock and Mr

Andrew which has been brilliant. It also started with fabulous exam results from the summer.

Ms Riaz and I tend to be pessimists when it comes to the results - we always worry for the stu-

dents, so we struggled to believe how good they were this summer. As the term has gone on

there has been too much for me to go through, but what I have been impressed with is how

much has taken place:

A really engaging and informative author visit with Taran Matharu, organised by the librarian

A fabulous but educational Poland trip to Auschwitz organised by the History department

The introduction of the “westfield mile” at KS3, a healthy, chatty stroll with the form tutor once

a week.

A Macbeth theatre trip with English

Two wonderful languages trips, one to the French Institute and one Residential trip to France.

I was surprised “made up” proud of our success in Gaelic Football.

Year 11 Maths and Languages revision on Saturday mornings

Year 13 Strong Foundations Sociology Trip to Westfield London

Production of the Christmas Carol for Year 7’S

There is more but as a flavour of what has taken place in the last 12 weeks it’s fabulous. I

couldn’t be more proud of the staff and students.

Finally, to end with an OFSTED inspection was just what we all needed. We knew we were due

and to have it before the holiday was brilliant. It was a great two days, feedback about staff

and students was so gratifying to hear and the feedback from parents was lovely. To have visi-

tors can be nerve wracking, but when they are reminding you of all the great work everyone is

doing it’s lovely. The final report will

probably come out in Mid-January

but it was a very positive experience

for us all.

I wish you and your families a fabulous Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
