No matter where you live in Hampshire, there is a farmers’ market you can visit to show your support to the local and rural economy while buying the best ingredients to use at home. For many shoppers, knowing the traceability and provenance of the produce they’re buying is an important part of their purchase. All of Hampshire Farmers’ Markets’ producers must source at least 20% of their ingredients from Hampshire or within a 20-mile radius. Not only that, any produce grown, reared or raised must spend at least 50% of its time with the producer. All this means that when you visit any of our markets, you can rest assured everything sold is fully traceable and local. Whichever farmers’ market you shop at, you can guarantee a friendly smile and perhaps a sample or two from our passionate producers. They’re always happy to chat to you about their food and drink, offering advice and even a few recipe ideas. If all the shopping for delicious food and drink makes you peckish there’s often hot food to go to keep you nourished. More than just marketsAs well as monthly markets, 2018 will see even more food festivals take place across Hampshire. As well as an abundance of local producers attending, visitors can expect great live music, crafts, face painting, cookery demonstrations and brilliant giveaways.Just some of the new festivals you can visit in 2018 include Open Farm Sunday on June 10th, Ringwood Gin & Jazz Festival on June 30th, Bedford Place Festival on July 22nd, Fleet Festival of Food on April 22nd and September 23rd and Oxford Street, Southampton Christmas Festival on December 1st.Plus don’t forget to save the dates for Hamble Spring Festival on May 5th, Shamrock Quay Festival on May 7th, Hamble Food Festival on September 1st, Southampton and Romsey Food Festival on September 2nd.
