This was an extremely challenging project since the site was restricted and did not allow for a new 100,000 gallon tank farm to be constructed on the ground floor adjacent to their Milk Receiving Bays. After reviewing various alternatives to solve this problem, it was determined that construction above an existing roof would be the best solution. Portions of the existing adjacent buildings were analyzed to determine if existing structures were capable of supporting these additional loads. This northern portion of the 2-story building, immediately west of the Milk Receiving Bays, was selected. In addition to the obvious structural complications, one of the most difficult obstacles of this project was designing the vestibule and the access to the vestibule to keep the Kemps facility in full operation during the construction. A benefit of this design, was an additional easy roof access point for the Kemps maintenance personnel. Evans Freimuth Architects, LLC, or the principles, have provided architectural services for Kemps, LLC, or its parent companies, since 1975. Kemps, LLC Roof Top Tank Farm Farmington, MN
