VISION
• To be a leading national and international icon of humanity and freedom.
MISSION
• To provide a pioneering and empowering heritage destination in
order to mobilise for reconciliation and nation building in our
country; to reflect upon our past, improving our present and
building our future as a united nation; to contribute continentally
and internationally to the formation of better human understanding
among nations and peoples.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Positioning Freedom Park as a symbol of national identity by 2011 in seventy percent of the target groups;
• establishing mechanism to promote, protect and preserve
indigenous knowledge systems by 2011; • creating a conducive environment in order to attract,
engage and retain effective knowledgeable talent, as measured by industry standards;
• manage Freedom Park as a financially sustainable and
customer focused cultural institution; and • mobilise institutions through active partnerships with
continental and international institutions to emancipate the African Voice.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR DESIGNING STRUCTURE
• Organisational design is the process through which
meaningful hierarchical structures, decision centres or
authority, information networks, process for coordination,
and control, and governance systems are created to
subdivide and group the essential tasks carrying the
organization’s strategies.
• The main function of the organisational structure is to facilitate
achievement of organisational objectives.
• Structure is a means to an end rather than an end itself.
• Structure is derived from the organisation’s strategy
• The nature and form of an organisation structure is determined by the
organisation’s design philosophy.
FREEDOM PARK’S DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
• Freedom Park adopted organizational structure based on functional
design principles
• Tasks grouped together into departments using process approach
• Structured around defined processes directed at achieving specific
outcomes
• Lean and flat structure to ensure agility in decision making,
flexibility and cost effectiveness.
