my sister asked me if I wanted prayer? I

agreed. Pastor Rory asked me what was

going on? I told him everything. Even

how I planned my own death. He said

let’s take it to the Cross. I didn’t know

that I could take these issues to the Cross.

As I did, I saw Jesus taking them from

LEGS HEALED BY JESUS

At Healing School, Pastor Rory prayed

for my legs. I saw Jesus standing next

to him with His hand on his shoulder.

When he was done praying Pastor

Rory told me to dance. As I began to

dance, I saw in the spirit, Jesus bend-

ing down & unlocking leg irons from

off my ankles. Then Jesus said “I am

the key to your healing. Your legs are

now 100% normal. I now have feeling

in my legs. My legs are healed.

DELIVERED FROM SUICIDE

On and before April 26,08 I had a mul-

was a Christian, I planned my own death

Service at FREEDOM CHRISTIAN CENTER, I went forward for prayer. As Pastor Rory prayed, I felt something like

electricity flow through me. Instantly the pain I had in my arm and hips left. I could touch my hands behind my back with no pain. My hips were pain free as well.

Jesus healed me that night. PRAISE THE LORD!

SALVATION & DELIVERANCE

I was severely tormented by de-monic spirits. They told me they were taking my soul to hell. I called my Aunt who made an appointment for me at the Heal-ing Center in Austin MN. I was amazed, as soon as I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior & received the Holy Spir-it, Gods presence caused the de-mons to leave. THEY JUST LEFT - THERE WAS NO BATTLE!

PROPHECY WATCH

Oh my, we are a chosen gener-ation. We are a generation that has stepped into an era where no other generation has ever been. No other people have ever been this close to the catching away of the church in this, this deep into the end times. No other people has seen so much technologi-cal advancement. But what is great-er—no other gen-eration has seen such spiritual ad-vancement—as what we’ve seen in the last 50 years in this world.

Praise God! You have blessed us, blessed us, blessed us and the best is yet to come.

Oh. Oh, but yes, revelation is now flowing on ways to ac-tivate the power of God—by faith, by love, by anointing through the outpouring of THE BLESSING in measure-less ways. In overflowing content and abundance like no other people before have ever seen. It’s been seen by a few and a handful in all gen-erations. Someone has always

been here that has seen it, in the Spirit. Even when Jesus was born there were those in the temple that knew who He was. They had seen it in the spirit. God has al-ways had His witness in the earth. And He always will. Ah, but this generation

is the “multi-tude of witness-es generation.” We are standing not only in the mil-lions, but tens of millions, and we are moving toward the billion mark of Holy Spirit. Bap-tized, tongue talk-ing, Holy Ghost moving, healing, believing, power-

outpouring, blessed human-ity people. We are multi-plying faster than any other race on the face of the earth. For we are a new race, we’re born out of all races, we are the regen-erated. We are the glorious ones, we are the born again, born of the Word—soon to be glorified and caught up with Him in glory.

Shout amen, somebody!

HELPING MOM STAY FAMILY CENTERED “I am so grateful for all the years you have invested in my life. Thank you … for taking care of me when I was sick … for crying with me when I needed to cry … for loving me even when it was incredibly hard … for being patient with me when you probably wanted to yell at me … for spending time with me when I need-ed it most … for listening to me when I felt like no one could hear me … and for not giving up when times were hard.”

These words were printed on a picture Jill Savage, mother of five, received from one of her daughters fol-lowing an incredibly hard season of the teenager’s life. The picture was of her daughter with her arms spread wide and is what Savage considers one of the best Mother’s Day gifts she’s ever received.

Why? Because it sums up the essence of motherhood. “It made all the chal-lenges of mothering in that season worth it,” says Savage, founder and executive director of Hearts at Home.

“Hearts at Home is a Christ-centered or-ganization designed to encourage, edu-

cate, and equip women in the profession of motherhood,” she explains. “We offer encouragement through our conference events, Web site (www.hearts-at-home.org), published resources, bi-monthly magazine, and our newly launched radio program.” Hearts at Home also hosts an annual national conference with 5,000

moms from over 30 differ-ent states in attendance.

The organiza-tion acts as a cheer leader for mothers, p a r t i c u l a r l y women who consider moth-erhood their

profession. Hearts at Home helps moth-ers love their lives, especially in a society where motherhood is looked down upon in terms of being a valid profession.

“I think we associate money with value,” Savage says. “When a mother contrib-utes to the family in a non-monetary way, we [society] have wrongly assumed that the contribution isn’t as valuable as a monetary contribution.”

Such an assumption couldn’t be farther from the truth considering the eternal im-pact a mother can have on her children.

From New Line Home Entertain-ment comes the DVD release of Martian Child, a story of uncon-ditional love as told through the relationship of David, a widowed sci-fi writer, and Dennis, a boy who thinks he’s from Mars.

Two years after the death of his wife Mary, David decides to adopt an eccentric little boy to ful-fill the adoption plans he and his wife had prior to her death. Dennis believes he is a Martian on a mission to figure out “human beingness.” But that doesn’t stop David who sees a lot of himself in the child.

Despite difficulties, David and Dennis are drawn together by an unexplainable force called love.

Martian Child is rated PG for the-matic elements and mild language.

The topics of death and rejection are addressed. There is one use of the “d”-word and one use of God’s name in vain, as well as the use of “bloody,” “stupid” and “dumb.” Alcohol is shown at a party, and there are two references to eastern religions. The film also contains

immodesty and some slightly sarcastic refer-ences. Viewers may question the adoption of a child by a sin-gle parent as well as a scene

where Dennis and David break things in the house and have a ketchup fight as a means of letting go of insurmountable hurt. There are some references to Martian powers and a sexual innuendo and kiss.

While some of the content is ques-tionable, the message of Martian Child is a redeeming one that will leave the heart smiling.

Luke 13:12-13"And when Jesus saw her, he called her to Him, and said unto her, “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her: and im-mediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

Here we see Jesus making an astounding statement. “Woman, thou art loosed.” What did He mean when He proclaimed this?

This woman wasn’t loosed. She had been bowed over for 18 years. Think about it. 18 years of constantly looking at the ground! 18 years of not being able to straighten your back and stand straight. 18 years of tremendous pain, and agony. What do you mean she is loosed?

Jesus simply told her the truth. This woman was free, and she didn’t even know it.

The fact may be that you may be experi-ancing some sort of bondage, like this woman was, in your lofe today. But the truth is, YOU HAVE BEEN LIBERATED from that bondage!

Jesus said in John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall MAKE YOU FREE!”

To be made free, is different than being set free. Being set free, infers that you will have the opportunity to be placed in bond-age again.

The Word of God declares that you and I ARE FREE! FREE from bondage, free from sin! We cannot be held in bondage any longer, unless we choose to be.

Even though this woman was a daugh-ter of Abraham, and through the blood covenant that God made with him, was free, she didn’t know it. As a result she allowed, through a lack of knowledge, the enemy to keep her bound for 18 years.

That is what is happing with people today. We have a blood covenant with God through His Son Jesus Christ. This covenant has already provided complete and total deliverance from the power of darkness.

Colossians 1:13-14 says “Who (God the Father) hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. In whom we HAVE redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins;”

Can you see it? Because of the work of Jesus Christ, we have already been delivered from the bondage of sin and the results of sin.

In Romans 5:12 we read: “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Death is the result of sin. Sickness (which is death in progress), poverty and spiritual death are all the results of the sin nature.

Hebrews 2:14-15 we read how Jesus “. . . Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might de-stroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” We, who were subject to the bondage of the fear of death, have now been MADE FREE!

The Word of God proclaims “If the Son therefore shall MAKE you FREE, you shall be FREE indeed" (John 8:36). Galatians 5:1 says “Stand fast there-fore in the liberty wherewith Christ has MADE us FREE….“

Some of you may be saying, “If this is true Rory, why am I still struggling?“ The answer is always found in Jesus.

In John 8:12 Jesus said; “. . . I AM the light of the world; he that follows Me will not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.“

Follow Jesus. Follow His example. As you continue in His Word, you will know the TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH OF HIS WORD WILL MAKE YOU FREE! (John 8:31, 32) So it’s time to receive the free gift that our Father has for us, by accept-ing the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ!

It is time to start following Jesus!. It is time to begin submitting ourselves to the Lordship of Jesus, and begin resisting sin, and the results of sin, as we would the devil himself.

When we begin following after Jesus, we will begin walking free from sin, and all the works of the enemy, sin, sickness, bondage, terror, lack, will run from us as if in terror.

Glory to God; follow Jesus and walk in your newfound freedom today!

Continued from the Last Issue of FREEDOM

It has been the error of schools to teach astronomy, and all the other sciences and subjects of natural phi-losophy, as accomplishments only; whereas they should be taught theologi-cally, or with reference to the Being who is the Author of them: for all the prin-ciples of science are of divine origin. Man cannot make, or invent, or con-trive principles; he can only dis-cover them, and he ought to look through the dis-covery to the Author. When we examine an extraor-dinary piece of ma-chinery, an astonish-ing pile of architecture, a well-executed statue, or a highly-finished painting where life and action are imitated, and habit only prevents our mistaking a sur-face of light and shade for cubical solid-ity, our ideas are naturally led to think of the extensive genius and talent of the artist. When we study the elements of geometry, we think of Euclid. When we speak of gravitation, we think of New-ton. How, then, is it that when we study the works of God in creation, we stop short and do not think of God? It is from the error of the schools in having taught those subjects as accomplishments only and thereby separated the study of them from the Being who is the Author of them. . . . The evil that has resulted from the error of the schools in teaching natural philosophy as an accomplish-ment only has been that of generating in the pupils a species of atheism. Instead of looking through the works of creation to the Creator Himself, they stop short and employ the knowledge they acquire

to create doubts of His existence. They labor with studied ingenuity to ascribe everything they behold to innate proper-ties of matter and jump over all the rest by saying that matter is eternal. And when we speak of looking through nature up to nature’s God, we speak philosophically the same rational language as when we speak of looking through human laws up to the power that ordained them. God is the power of first cause, nature is the law, and matter is the subject acted upon. But infidelity, by ascribing every phenomenon to properties of matter, conceives a sys-tem for which it cannot account and yet it pretends to demonstrate.

Paine certainly did not advocate this posi-tion as a result of religious beliefs or of any teaching in the Bible, for he believed that “the Bible is spurious” and “a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy.” Yet, this anti-Bible founder was nevertheless a strong supporter of teaching the theis-tic origins of man. Many other Founding Fathers also held clear positions on this

issue.

John Quincy Adams"It is so obvious to every reasonable being, that he did not make himself; and the world which he inhab-its could as little make itself that the moment we begin to exercise the power of reflection, it seems impossible to

escape the conviction that there is a Creator. It is equally evident that the Creator must be a spiritual and not a ma-terial being; there is also a consciousness that the thinking part of our nature is not material but spiritual – that it is not subject to the laws of matter nor perishable with it. Hence arises the belief, that we have an immortal soul; and pursuing the train of thought which the visible creation and observation upon ourselves suggest, we must soon discover that the Creator must also he the Governor of the universe – that His wisdom and His goodness must be without bounds – that He is a righteous God and loves righteousness – that man-kind are bound by the laws of righteous-ness and are accountable to Him for their obedience to them in this life, according to their good or evil deeds.

But the first words of the Bible are, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The blessed and sublime idea of God as the

creator of the universe – the Source of all human happiness for which all the sages and philosophers of Greece and Rome groped in darkness and never found – is recalled in the first verse of the book of Genesis. I call it the source of all human virtue and happiness because when we have attained the con-ception of a Being Who by the mere act of His will created the world, it would follow as an irresistible consequence (even if we were not told that the same Being must also be the governor of his own creation) that man, with all other things, was also created by Him, and must hold his felicity and virtue on the condition of obedience to His will."

Benjamin Franklin"It might be judged an affront to your un-derstandings should I go about to prove this first principle: the existence of a Deity and that He is the Creator of the universe; for that would suppose you ignorant of what all mankind in all ages have agreed in. I shall therefore proceed to observe that He must be a being of infi-nite wisdom (as appears in His admirable order and disposition of things), whether we consider the heavenly bodies, the stars and planets and their wonderful reg-ular motions; or this earth, compounded of such an excellent mixture of all the ele-ments; or the admirable structure of ani-mate bodies of such infinite variety and yet every one adapted to its nature and

appointed bounds not dash one against another for their mutual destruction. But it is easy to conceive His power, when we are convinced of His infinite knowledge and wisdom. For, if weak and foolish crea-tures as we are, but knowing the nature of a few things, can produce such wonderful effects, . . . what power must He possess, Who not only knows the nature of every-thing in the universe but can make things of new natures with the greatest ease and at His pleasure! Agreeing, then, that the world was first made by a Being of infinite wisdom, goodness, and power, which Being we call God."

John Adams"When I was in England from 1785 to 1788, I may say I was intimate with Dr. Price [Richard Price was a theologian and a strong British supporter of American rights and independence, with Congress bestowing on him an American citizenship in 1778]. I had much conver-sation with him at his own house, at my houses, and at the house and tables of many friends. In some of our most unreserved conversations when we have been alone, he has repeatedly said to me, “I am inclined to believe that the Universe is eternal and infinite. It seems to me that an eternal and infinite effect must necessar-ily flow from an eternal and infinite Cause; and an infinite Wisdom, Goodness, and Power that could have been induced to produce a Universe in time must have produced it from eternity.” “It seems to me, the effect must flow from the Cause”... It has been long – very long – a settled opin-ion in my mind that there is now, never will be, and never was but one Being who can understand the universe, and that it is not only vain but wicked for insects [like us] to pretend to comprehend it."

James Wilson"When we view the inanimate and irra-tional creation around and above us, and contemplate the beautiful order observed in all its motions and appearances, is not the supposition unnatural and improbable that the rational and moral world should be abandoned to the frolics of chance or to the ravage of disorder? What would be the fate of man and of society was every one at full liberty to do as he listed with-out any fixed rule or principle of conduct – without a helm to steer him, a sport of the fierce gusts of passion and the fluctu-ating billows of caprice?"

Daniel Webster"The belief that this globe existed from all eternity (or never had a beginning), never obtained a foothold in any part of the world or in any age. Even the infidel writer of modern times, however, in the pride of argument they may have as-serted it but believed it not, for they could not help perceiving that if mankind, with their inherently intellectual powers and natural capacities for improvement, had inhabited this earth for millions of years, the present inhabitants would not only be vastly more intelligent than we now find them but there would be vestiges of the former races to be found in every inhabit-able part of the globe, floods and earth-quakes notwithstanding. Unless we adopt Lord Monboddo’s [1714-1799, a Scottish legal scholar and pioneer anthropologist who advocated evolution through natural selection and man’s ascent from chimps] supposition that mankind were originally

monkeys, it is impos-sible to admit the idea that they could have existed millions of years without making more discoveries and improvements than the early histories of nations warrant us to believe they had done. The belief in an uncre-

ated, self-existent intelligent First Cause takes possession of our minds whether we will or not, because if man could not cre-ate himself, nothing else could; and mat-ter, if it were not external, could produce nothing but matter; it could never produce thought nor free will nor consciousness. There must have been, therefore, a time when this globe and its inhabitants did not exist. The question then arises, what gave it existence? We answer God, the great First Cause of all things. What is God? We know not. We know Him only through His creation and His revelation. What do these teach us? They teach us, first this; incomprehensible power, next His infinite mind, and lastly His universal benevolence or goodness. These terms express all that we can know or believe of Him."

(A longer and more extensive piece on the history of evolution and the Founding Fathers can be read in David Barton’s law review ar-ticle published for Regent Lawschool on the 75th anniversary of the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial. the way of life is to be placed in, whether on earth, in the air, or in the water, and so exactly that the highest and most exqui-site human reason cannot find a fault; and say this would have been better so, or in such a manner which whoever considers attentively and thoroughly will be aston-ished and swallowed up in admiration. That the Deity is a being of great good-ness appears in His giving life to so many creatures, each of which acknowledges it a benefit by its unwillingness to leave it; in His providing plentiful sustenance for them all and making those things that are most useful, most common and easy to be had, such as water (necessary for al-most every creature to drink); air (without

which few could subsist); the inexpress-ible benefits of light and sunshine to al-most all animals in general; and to men, the most useful vegetables, such as corn, the most useful of metals, as iron, & c.; the most useful animals as horses, oxen, and sheep, He has made easiest to raise or procure in quantity or numbers; each of which particulars, if considered seriously and carefully, would fill us with the highest love and affection. That He is a being of infinite power appears in His be-ing able to form and compound such vast masses of matter (as this earth, and the sun, and innumerable stars and planets), and give them such prodigious motion and yet so to govern them in their greatest ve-locity as that they shall not fly out of their

President Bush unfortunately, ac-cording to Hutchens, has been selectively choosing the terrorists with whom he will not negotiate. “They will not certainly support al Qaida in Iraq, but they won’t allow Israel at this point to go in and clean out al Qaida in Gaza, plus the other Palestinian jihad-ists that are there,” he points out. “So I think, hopefully, we can en-

courage him to encourage Israel to do that, because Israel is the only one that can do it -- and they will do it if they are released to do it. They have that capacity,” Hutchens contends. In his speech, Bush referred to the idea of negotiating with ter-rorists as “the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by his-tory.” White House press secretary Dana Perino claims President Bush’s comment about appeas-ing terrorists was not a jab at Barack Obama.

Senate Republicans are taking their Democratic colleagues to

task over their inaction on soaring energy prices.

As gasoline nears $4 a gallon – just for regular unleaded – Senate Democrats voted down a Repub-lican energy plan that called for opening 2,000 acres of the 19.2-million-acre Arctic National Wild-life Refuge in Alaska to oil and gas leasing. Proponents of the plan say the amount of land they want to open is comparable to putting a postage stamp on a tennis court. The failed proposal also provided incentives for building refineries and battery-powered vehicles, and allowed oil shale drilling in the West. Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mc-Connell (R-Kentucky) notes that in the last year, Democrats have called on OPEC three times to in-crease production, but voted four times against increasing produc-tion in the U.S. “... [I]t’s time to increase American production, which benefits this country ... by creating new American jobs and helps deal with the problem of supply and demand,” argues Mc-Connell. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee) agrees, and says the U.S. needs to increase oil supply in order to lower prices. “Yet the Democrats can only come up with raising taxes and suing OPEC,” he offers. However, according to

Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois), “We can’t drill our way to lower prices.” But the failed energy proposal is not the only Washington action that could further hurt American consumers. According to an Asso-ciated Press article, current Alas-kan oil production and exploration could face even tougher times now that the Interior Department has listed polar bears as threat-ened under the Endangered Spe-cies Act. Emily’s favorite thing to do is to go horse-back riding. She has riding lessons each week. Emily also has horse posters all over one wall in her bedroom. She loves horses and all her friends and teachers at school know it.

One week we were at Grandma Lila’s house. There was a western store about 1/2 mile from Grand-ma’s house. I told Emily we could stop there and look for a pair of boots.

“Mom,” she said, “I’ve never had seen this store here before. Is it new?” She didn’t know it, but that store had been there for 25 years. Emily has been to her Grand-ma’s house many times, yet she never had noticed the store before.

Why? Well, because she was never in-terested in horse things before. But be-cause she had an interest in those things now, she started looking for everything about them. God’s Word is full of promises that you may have never “noticed” be-

fore. You maybe haven’t noticed them, because you had no need for them.

One time Emily was sad because a girl in school that she called a friend was telling lies about her. I told Emily about Psalm 31:20 that says if we stay close to God, He will keep us safe from lies that others

say. She no longer had to worry about what was being said about her. God would take care of her.

What other promises do you suppose are in the Bible that you don’t know about? Many, many more, that’s for sure! Prom-

ises of safety, good reports, health, heal-ing, favor, joy….

There are many, many more promises that God wants to have working in your life. Discover them for yourself. Keep coming to God. And remember that God always keeps His promises.

Love, not lust, must be the motivation behind our faith. Some of us have a wrong re-lationship with material things, which hinders our prosperity. That was the problem the chil-dren of Israel had when they were trying to possess the Prom-ised Land. They had so many issues, so much baggage. They couldn’t enter into the Promised Land because God couldn’t trust them in their arrogance and in-gratitude. He knew they’d forget about Him once they got there.

Faith is re-quired to lay hold of and receive wha tever it is we’re trying to re-ceive; but if our love is not work-ing, then our faith isn’t work-ing. We’ll still be in the same s i t u a t i o n and cir-cumstance, even though we’ve declared the answer from the Word with our mouths.

Look at a couple of biblical ex-amples about the correlation between love and prosperity.

Let’s look first at Matthew 14. After the death of His first cous-in John broke Jesus’ heart, He saw that the multitude who fol-lowed Him were hungry. So He said to His disciples, “Bring Me the two-piece fish dinner.” Why? Because He loved them.

Jesus basically said, “As an act of My love, I’m going to show you My power. Because I love this multitude, watch what I do with this two-piece fish dinner.

My love is so strong for them that the power has to show up. Something has to happen because I love them.” And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude” (Matt. 14:19).

To bless means to empower to prosper. Jesus em-p o w e r e d the two-piece fish dinner to p r o s p e r . He anoint-ed that dinner to feed over 2 0 , 0 0 0 p e o p l e , and 20,000 h u n g r y people is a burden and a yoke. But the anoint-ing re-moves bur-dens and

destroys yokes.

Lack is a burden. Shortage is a burden. But when the anointing gets on that lack and shortage, it does something about them, and we receive a harvest!

Thank God we get a harvest when we sow; but remember, God’s acts are not due to our obedience as much as they are simply an expression of love from a Father who cares for us! That’s why the system works. God supports the system He set into motion with His love.

Not just jokesters: Hawk Nelson might be best known for throwing fun pop/punk parties in concert and on their CDs. After all, they named their newest CD Hawk Nelson Is My Friend. “Technically, it should read ‘Hawk Nelson Are My Friends,’” says bassist Daniel Biro. “After all we’re a band, not one guy. But we wanted to play off the delusion that Hawk Nelson is a solo dude. It’s just another way we try to keep things humorous and fun.”

But even though these annual Golden Ear winners are high octane and fun-lov-ing enter-tainers, they also bal-ance the fun with lyrics of serious substance. “ S o m e people think just because we’re jokesters we don’t really talk about real things,” says lead singer Ja-son Dunn. But that’s not true.

“This new album is much more in-tentional than previous records,” Daniel says, “A main theme throughout this record is our de-pendence on God’s love and grace—our need for him in our daily lives. Yeah, we like to have a lot of fun—on and off stage—but we want to say something of sig-nificance.”

Personal pain: Jason told IYF that it was on 2006’s Smile, It’s the End of the World where the band really started taking a deeper ap-proach. Amidst all the fun were lyrics dealing with real issues like hurt, self-esteem and suicide. “I especially think about the song ‘Everything You Ever Wanted,’ which talks about kids suffering from their parents’ divorce,” Jason says. “It’s really unfortu-nate, but it’s a very real is-sue.”

It’s a topic Daniel can cer-tainly relate to. There was a time when his anger toward his mom caused years of silence between them. “Your whole world crashes when your parents get divorced,” Daniel says. “It’s brutal. You get mad and you have to point the finger at some-one. I was told on numerous occa-sions that I needed to forgive my mom. I kept pretending I was fine, but I wasn’t and I needed to for-give her. God helped me restore that relationship, but it took at least

five years.”

Used by God: When Hawk Nel-son put a song on Smile about s u i c i d e , they knew they were dealing with

a troubling and difficult issue. It was also a deeply personal one.

“’Zero’ talks about my per-sonal experience of deal-ing with a friend who killed himself when he was 19,” Jason says. “It’s about the choices we make—and how they affect those around us.”

Fans responded to the popular single—more than any other song the band has written.

“I get goose bumps thinking of all the times people have come up to us after a show with their arms scarred saying how that song changed their lives,” Jason says. “We’re blown away that God is able to use us that way—that one of our songs can help change someone for the better.”

those who have fought so we can live free,” she added.

Simac attempts to fill these voids with her new book, which is a simple story about a young boy who has a special appreciation for American soldiers. The book was recently added to the Dr. Laura Schlessinger Book List.

Since being added to the book list, a dona-tion appeal was launched to raise money to provide veterans with Si-mac’s book. Over $2,000 in dona-tions was raised during the first weekend, and

now copies of the book are being given to soldiers, schools and li-braries.

“It is an exciting story as people who read the book are willing to donate their own money to spread the simple message that it carries,” Simac said.

F R E E D O MA former Green Beret-turned-author is warning that a precipitous troop with-drawal from Iraq would reverse all of the U.S. gains, with catastrophic results. Mi-chael Yon is convinced that General Da-vid Petraeus is the right man to lead the war. Yon has used his experi-ence as a Green Beret to get unpar-alleled ac-cess to the front lines of the war -- and he be-lieves the war is on the right track, thanks in large part to General Petraeus’s surge strategy. Yon says the newly appointed CENTCOM commander is the right man for the job. “This is the man who should be running this war,” says the combat vet. “It was very clear [to me] because at that point I’d spent nearly a year in Iraq -- I’d seen

the grounds, I listened to things that he was saying, and I said ‘Yep, he knows exactly what he’s talking about.’” Yon says Petraeus’s surge strategy has been almost textbook in the way it has been carried out. “It wasn’t just the in-

creased num-ber in troops. It was also the way we were using those troops,” he ex-plains. “They were pushing off the bases, and once we started do-ing the things basically that

he outlined in his counter-insurgency manual, that he co-authored with Gen-eral Mattis from the Marines, it worked,” he continues. “It worked like something right out of the book.” Yon says the U.S. cannot afford to aban-don Iraq and undo all the good the troops have accomplished during the surge.

American Soldier Proud and Free is the newest book from chil-dren’s author Kimberly Jo Simac, a mother of nine who values the im-portance of teaching young people patriotism. “I have spent my entire adult life raising nine children, and I see with-out a doubt that patriotism – respect for our flag, our leaders and those who serve in the military – is be-ing totally left out of our children’s edu-cational agenda,” Simac said. “I really felt that something had to be done to address these defi-ciencies.”

As a response, Si-mac wrote American Soldier Proud and Free, colorfully illus-trated by Donna Goeddaeus. While working on this book, Simac also realized that there are no patriotic soldier books for little children.
