Are you familiar with the Holy Name Prayer Line?
It is a group of 30+ parishioners (called the Prayer Line Partners) who pray for anyone who is in need of prayers for any reason. It could be an illness, loss of a loved one, etc., or a special intention. We invite you to
share your prayer needs by calling Ann at the rectory (733-5823). You don’t even have to give us your name – just who (first name only, or you can say a woman, a man, a parishioner) the group would pray for and a very brief reason (i.e., surgery, illness, special intention, etc.) for the request. We compile a daily list (Monday through Friday) and email it to the partners who have emails, and it is called in to those who do this by phone (first
person calls the second, and so on). Please contact Ann at the rectory, 733-5823, with your interest.
Christmas Eve Prayer Loving God, help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
Christmas Day Prayer - Jesus, the Light of the World Jesus, the Light of the World, as we celebrate Your birth, may we begin to see the world in the light of the understanding You give us. As You chose the lowly, the outcasts, and the poor to receive the greatest news the world had ever known, so may we worship You in meekness of heart. Collections for Dec. 8, 2019 total $7,154.44! Thank you very much for your continued support!
Sr. Melinda continues to seek DONATIONS of individually wrapped cookies, small candy bars,
Tootsie rolls, lollipops, granola, and packs of peanut butter crackers for the candy bags that our
parish is providing to Holy Cross to enhance their Sandwich Ministry for the homeless. Thank you!
Please note: We cannot accept cookies or any items that are not individually wrapped. Any items
not wrapped individually have to be thrown away.
Many long time active Parishioners are now homebound or in nursing homes. Please help us bring them a bit
of “Holy Name” by taking part in our Giving Tree Program. It means so much to them to be remembered
by someone from the parish. You have until Little Christmas, January 5, 2020, to visit with the gift.
Special Note: If you have someone you would like to include in this program, please
contact Sr. Melinda to give her their name, address and phone number. HOW IT WORKS
If there are ornaments with names left on the Giving Tree, please take one. Take it home with you, as it
has the parishioner’s name and address on the back. This ornament is then given to the person, along with
another gift of your choice. (Please see list of suggestions below.)
Before visiting, please call and set up a time that is convenient for both of you. Most homebound, either at
home or in a nursing facility, will enjoy having visits from children. If you have any questions, please give Sr.
Melinda a call.

SERVICE
We will be decorating the Church for Christmas on Sunday, December 22nd, after the 12:30p.m. Spanish Mass. If you are available, your help will be very much appreciated!
Concerning Hospital Visits If someone in your family is in the hospital and you want to have Fr. David, Fr. Joyce or Sister Melinda visit, please call the rectory at 733-5823 and leave a message for either father or Sr. Melinda, (ext. 130). Unfortunately, a parishioner’s name is not always on the daily list of Holy Name patients; so we ask that you give us a call with the information (name, which building, room #, etc.). This way you or your loved one will be assured of a visit.
SERVICE
LOAVES AND FISHES
On the first Monday of every month, members of our parish gather at South Congregational Church on Maple Street to serve a meal to the hungry of our city. We are sure you will find it to be a positive and rewarding
experience, and it is so organized, it won’t take a lot of your time. American Chop Suey is the meal we serve, and you are welcome to use your own recipe. If you can help with the cooking or serving, please call Ann at the rectory, 733-5823, or if you decide to come and don’t have time to call ahead, that’s fine, too. Meals can either be dropped off between 4:15 and 4:30p.m., or stay and serve and you’ll be on your way home in an hour. You’ll find plenty of safe, off-street parking right in the church parking lot. Important Note: The parking lot is torn up, so from Maple Street (where you’d normally go in) proceed to State Street, take a right onto State, take the next right onto School Street, take the next right onto Temple Street, and enter into the back parking lot of the church (about 2/3’s of the way down on Temple Street on the left).

Holy Name Parish Council Meeting Minutes November 4, 2019
Reports: 1. Pastor-Ongoing roof project in the works 2. Pastoral Minister-Sr. Melinda absent but still looking for unwrapped goodies for Holy Cross Sandwich Ministry 3. Spanish Mission-Blanca Davila absent Old Business: Signs have been put up for Bazaar, November 16. Bill Preye has more available if someone has a suggestion for other locations. Volunteers needed for bazaar set-up and assembling baskets, five o'clock. Baskets and prizes needed, along with children's books in good condition. Christmas party has been changed to December 14 due to police sector party in am on previous date. Discussed arranging for a Santa, securing presents for children, Mad Max as D.J., and perhaps Spanish Choir to perform. Peter Frodema brought in sample menu from Hamel's as starting point to compare prices. Another suggestion was Christo's, and Pat Romeo offered to supply a meal at lower cost if help was available for setting up and serving. Nothing decided yet.

New Business: Kristin Bushaw raised idea of a calendar fund raiser for January. Had sample of successful one from Southwick Congregational Church. Would require soliciting donations for each day, but not a financial burden on church. Group agreed it was a positive suggestion to look into. Reminder - Need volunteers on Monday, November 25 to put Thanksgiving baskets together for those in need. Comments - Sr. Melinda's Final Vow Ceremony and Celebration was a wonderful event!
The Religious Education classes are presenting their Christmas Pageant during the 10:30a.m. Children’s Mass this Sunday. There are no classes after Mass this Sunday or next, 12/22 &12/29 for the Christmas vacation. Confirmation classes also resume after the Christmas vacation on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
HOLY NAME EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES
A huge “THANK YOU” comes from our “Bazaar Extraordinaire Organizer and Leader Peggy Pellerin” to each and every vendor, donor, volunteer, plus set-up and clean-up crews for making this event a reality yet again!! She is retiring from her post as our “Secret of Success” behind these successful fundraisers, and leaves some big shoes to fill for the next person choosing to step up to the plate to oversee and run the Bazaar in the future. So, not only does Peggy say thanks, but the Church does also, to the same group of selfless volunteers; but most of all to Peggy, who has not only lead this event, but also the annual picnic, gift shop, coffee and donuts, lollipop making, etc., etc. for many, many years. Her expertise and kindness of heart will be greatly missed in every area, event and endeavor she has either lead or been a part of at Holy Name!! Bravo, Peggy!! You leave a tried and true legacy of volunteer spirit and action for which you should be very proud!!
OTHER EVENTS & OPPORTUNITIES
Visit our beautiful gift shop at Mary’s House of Prayer, located at 202 East Main St., Chicopee and from now until January 4, 2020 get 20% off on all items (statues, rosaries, Christmas items, bracelets, children’s books, St. Benedict Crosses, etc), not included are Spiritual Warfare Books and adult Bibles. Religious Items make great Christmas gifts. Come and see. We are open Monday thru Friday 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Evenings: Wednesday and Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday December 22 after the Healing Mass. We will be closed Dec. 24, 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1st. From all of us to all of you, Wishing you and your families a very Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.
Sacred Heart Parish will host another CPR/AED Life Support class on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 6:30 pm. There is a snow date of Tuesday, January 21st. Check your existing CPR/AED cards for expirations; this is a perfect opportunity to recertify! This class is for non-medical personnel, it is perfect for all other employment, athletic coaches, etc. The cost will be $45 per person to be paid the day of the class and will be held in our Parish Center, 1061 Springfield Street in Feeding Hills. Please call Pastoral Minister Deb Briancesco RN at 786.8200 ext 3 to sign up.
Sacred Heart Parish will once again be hosting the Baystate Health Center Blood Drive on January 25, 2020 from 8am – 1pm. This is the only Blood Drive that continues to go out to area churches, area Businesses etc. Sacred Heart Parish Blood Drives have now saved 756 adult lives or up to 1410 babies since we began in July of 2016. Let us strive to save even more lives at this next Blood Drive. Winter historically brings higher demands for blood due to increase accidents, cancer diagnosis and illnesses, etc. Please donate the gift of life.
