**) The cost of electricity (typically cents/kWh, Euro/kWh, Euro or $/MWh) generated by different sources is a calculation of the cost of generating electricity at the point of connection to a load or electricity grid. It includes the initial capital, discount rate, as well as the costs of continuous operation, fuel, and maintenance. This type of calculation assists policy makers, researchers and others to guide discussions and decision making.

Sun and wind complement each other ideally!
1. SHORT TERM GOALS: • Integrated PV Modules Production
(Ingots / Wafers / Cells / Modules) for Local Markets and Export
• PV-Power Plants (Electricity for Local Market)
• REEE - Technology Center
(Transfer of knowledge, capacity building and initial development of Green Industry, the energy system transformation, flexibilization of production and use of electricity & heat , stationary batteries, optimization of the Croatian future energy system based on hourly modeling, …)
2. MIDDLE TERM GOALS: • Storage capacity (Pumped Storage Hydro Plants, Power-to-Gas, …)
• Physical infrastructures / Grids
• PV-Electricity Export
• Technology Export
PROJECT GOALS:
20
11
21
• Through further development of technology the PV electricity costs will be less than from standard fossil power station in the coming years
• Vallis Solaris as favor company for using of Fraunhofer ISE / UMG-Si technology
development (Fraunhofer has already invested €20.0mio in this technology and is Co-Owner of Vallis Solaris)
• REEE - Technology Center Split (the planning phase of the center is financed by
Fraunhofer Society and the County of Split starting in December 2012 with 100.000 € from each side
• in combination solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy and biomass can deliver 100%
of the needed energy of Croatia. This would save a large amount of money, which is used nowadays for importing fossil fuels and electricity
• Vallis Solaris as possibly Pilot Project of Mediterranean Solar Plan-MSP, great
acceptance by the Secretariat of Union for Mediterranean / letters from 13.12.2012 and 01.10.2013
PROJECT VALLIS SOLARIS: Facts - Summary
MEDITERRANEAN SOLAR PLAN: Summary
Ø Developing renewable energies and improving the energy efficiency in the UfM* member states: Build 20 GW of extra production capacities of RE between now and 2020
Ø 20-20-20 The objectives of the European Energy-Climate package for 2020: - reduction of 20-30 % of the CO2 emissions - reaching 20 % of RE (specific mandatory objectives for every member state).
Ø Renewable energy as an industrial catalyst
Ø Transfer of knowledge and capacity building
Ø Physical infrastructures: Grids
Ø Indicative criterias: regional impact, reproducibility, know-how transfer, demonstration effects, scaling up of potentials, positive impact on host country economy and employment;
Ø UfM label: a political support from 43 UfM countries closely connected to major financial institutions.
