Dear Franklin High School Parents/Guardians and Students:

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming approximately 2,800 students on the first day of school, Thursday, August 15, 2019. Students are expected to be at school by 8:30 a.m. on the first day of school to pick up their official Franklin High School class schedules. Please refer to the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL column in this newsletter for more specific details.

Our last 2018-2019 school year was incredibly successful for our Franklin Wildcats. Our entire school community worked long and diligent hours on our Western Association of Schools and Colleges (a.k.a WASC) accreditation and visit. I am extremely proud to announce that Franklin High School received a six year, one day mid-term visit status from the WASC commission, the highest status we could earn! We have earned this distinction because of our exceptional student academic achievement, supportive parents/guardians, and our dedicated staff members. Franklin continues to be one of the top academic high schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Our staff and students continue to rise to the top with outstanding statewide test scores, an incredible UC a-g completion rate and a vast majority of our graduating Seniors eligible to attend a UC or CSU.

During the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to maintain our focus and support the Elk Grove Unified School District mission, working to ensure that we are providing a learning community that challenges all students to reach their greatest potential. To that end, our faculty and staff are committed to Franklin’s mission and vision of challenging students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens. Our greatest hope is that you will encourage your students to be involved in all aspects of Franklin High School. Research shows students get out of high school exactly what they put into it. When students are participating both in and out of the classroom, involved in extracurricular activities such as athletics, band, clubs, and theater, they have a very successful and rewarding high school experience. We work hard to guarantee that Franklin High School graduates are P.R.I.D.E strong when they leave our campus. Prepared for whatever next steps they choose; respectful of themselves and others, operate with integrity at all times; exhibit determination in all of their endeavors and show empathy for all they meet. Your partnership and assistance are essential to helping us prepare your students for life after high school. Please do not hesitate to ask me about how you can be involved. Our goal is to communicate with you on as many platforms as possible. In addition to the occasional hard copy

letter that might be mailed home, we will rely heavily upon our website http://frhs.egusd.net/ and School Messenger to push information out to parents and students. Please make sure that we have current phone numbers and email addresses on file so that you will be able to receive all Franklin High School information and updates. ParentVUE will also be used primary communication tool that allows parents and guardians to view their children’s school information. ParentVUE is discussed in greater detail on page three of this newsletter. Lastly, I want to remind you about three very important upcoming activities. 9th grade orientation for students will be held on Monday, August 5 starting at 8:00 am. 9th grade parent orientation will also be held Monday, August 5, but not until 6:30 pm. Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 29 at 6:30 pm. This newsletter will share additional information with regard to the opening of the 2019-2020 school year, activities and upcoming events. If you have any questions and/or need additional information, please call us at (916) 714-8150. We are looking forward to your support and involvement for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. #BePRIDEstrong #everystepstartswithyou

Sincerely,

Chantelle Albiani
