Objectives of the training course•Train Vietnamese professional engineers and scientists on the state of the art in radar (and optical) remote sensing.
•Enable a better understanding of the key concepts of the ESA Envisat missions, in particular with respect to the applications enabled by the ASAR instrument for environment, vegetation monitoring, hazard mapping, topography and subsidence monitoring.
•Provide hands-on experience with techniques (and tools) used for the exploitation of ERS and Envisat data, including radar interferometry

After the course and as a result of the course, ESA will make available a limited amount of free
ENVISAT ASAR and MERIS data (cat-1 for Education) for three pilot projects over Vietnam (e.g. hazard monitoring, subsidence monitoring, vegetation monitoring), to be selected during the
course, whose results may be presented in a dedicated workshop in mid 2009
