SMALL HYDROPOWERinstallations with capacities of < 10 Mw
• France still has the second largest small hydropower plant base in Europe behind Italy but is in third place in terms of gross output behind Italy and Germany.

FRANCE RE POLICIES• WIND POWER - Grenelle II law July 2010: wind turbines classified
installations for environmental purposes from 26 August 2011.• SOLAR THERMAL France has Europe’s most generous incentives systems
for individual thermal installation with regional and local authority aids and with the tax credit (50 % in 2010; 45 % in 2011).
• BIOGAS On 24 November 2011 the terms of purchase for bio methane injected in the gas grid could give the sector a new start with tariff ranges from 4.5€ to 12.5€/kwh.
• SOLID BIOMASS In 2011 a biomass promotion policy allowed a basic tariff (4.34€ /kwh) that is supplemented by an energy efficiency related premium for >5Mw installations.
• SMALL HYDROPOWER A sector support system law on 1 March 2007

E.U SHARE OF ENERGY FROM RE SOURCES IN GROSS FINAL CONSUMPTION
• Biomass sector will be called to contribute most. Wind energy should become the main source of renewable energy. Hydropower will follow and the other sectors will make significant contribution such as solar power and solar thermal.
• All in all renewably sourced final energy consumption should rise to• 245.9 Mtoe in 2020 with interim targets of 182 Mtoe in 2015.• Total E.U countries are already ahead of the energy trajectory set up by the EU RE
directive Board.
