  • DEFINITION OF ASSESSMENTA process of gathering information to make judgment on dimension of human construct (not only answering question) / proses mendapatkan maklumat dan seterusnya membuat penghakiman tentang dimensi sesuatu konstruk dalam diri manusia (bukan hanya soal dan jawab)

  • IMPORTANCE OF DISSEMINATION (OF ASSESSMENT)To inform the implementation of SPWA (PeKA)To understand and standardize the implementation of SBA/PBS (Supaya faham, sefaham dan selaras)Standardization to ensure fairness to candidates and integrity of the institution (Keselarasan utk keadilan kpd calon dan utk kewibawaan institusi)SBA assessment for better learning

  • ASSESSORAs a motivator of human capital development through school based assessment(sebagai penggerak pembinaan modal insan melalui pentaksiran berasaskan sekolah)

  • INTRODUCTIONThe PMR Science Practical Work Assessment (PMR PEKA)School Based AssessmentImplemented as part of T & L processContains objectives, characteristics and organization of PEKAOutlines the procedures to assess the pupils practical work

  • OBJECTIVES OF PMR PEKATo enable a pupil toMaster the scientific skillsStrengthen the knowledge and understanding the theories and concepts in ScienceInculcate the scientific attitudes and noble values to develop the human capacity

  • THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PMR PEKACompatibility with the curriculum specification Pupil-centeredOpen and transparentFeasible and systematic Variety of instrumentsContinuous and formative assessmentValid and reliablePositive reportContinuous monitoring

  • IMPORTANCE OF ASSESSMENTObserve the effectiveness of teaching, learning and implementation of SPWA (melihat keberkesanan p & p dan pelaksanaan PEKA)Observe different abilities among the students (melihat perbezaan / keupayaan antara pelajar)Validity and representativeness (Kesahan) - drpd reka bentuk dan bina aspek relevance (ada dlm syllabus)Reliability consistency and accuracy (Kebolehpercayaan - drpd ketekalan dan ketepatan skor. Skor yang tidak sah, tidak boleh dipercayai.)Certification (Utk pensijilan)

  • METHOD OF ASSESSMENTCarried out as part of t & l process.Assess either one construct / skills or several constructScientific attitudes and noble values should be assessed simultaneously with other skills.Information regarding the evidence are accessible to the pupils.Pupil must submit a complete evidence.Pupils who has not mastered any assess construct are able to repeat it in another assignment.Teachers must plan enough assignments to ensure that all the constructs are assessed.Pupil should be given adequate chances to master the required skills before an assessment is carried out.Assessment should be done at least twice in form one, thrice in form two and once in form three. The highest score for each construct could be taken from either form one, form two or form three assessments.

  • ASSESSMENT CYCLEDesign (Reka bentuk)Produce (Bina)Administer (Tadbir)Score (Skor)Report / Apply (Lapor dan Guna)

  • ConceptThe implementation includes:- Planning- Administration- Scoring- Reporting- Moderation

  • AdministrationAll evidence (e.g portfolios, reports) are: - collected by the teacher - assessed by the teacher - kept by the teacher

  • ScoringAwarded based on the scoring schemeTo be filled up in the Individual Score Form (ISF)

  • Scoring ProcedureIndividual Score Form (ISF)Write down the scores in the relevant column

Record the highest score for each construct

Sum up the highest score for each element

  • Managing ISFUsed by teachers / assessors and moderators

Two copiesa) original copy pupils portfoliob) second copy kept by teacher / assessor

    Certified by the school principal

  • ReportingThe scores of the pupils are summarised using Master Score Form (MSF)

  • Reporting ProcedureMaster Score Form

At the end of the assessment periodSubmit to Lembaga Peperiksaan

  • Reporting ProcedureSchool Report

Certificate issued by the schoolCertificate shows the grade awarded for each element

  • GRADING PROCEDUREGrade is awarded at the end of the assessment when the pupil is in Form Three.Grade is determined based on the Grading Table tabulated in the ISF.
