TedBober,M.S.W.,R.S.W.AssociateDirector,ClinicalServicesPhysician/ProfessionalsHealthProgramDr.JoyAlbuquerque,MD,MA,FRCP(C)AssociateMedicalDirectorPhysician/ProfessionalsHealthProgram

TedBober is a graduate of theUniversityofTorontowith over30yearsofclinical and administrative experience in the field of occupational health,mentalhealthandaddictions.HeistheAssociateDirectorofClinicalServicesattheOntarioMedicalAssociation’sPhysicianHealthProgram.Thisprogramsupportsmedicalstudents, residentsandphysiciansexperiencing significantpersonalorfamilystress,mentalhealthorsubstanceuseproblems.Tedhasakeeninterestinenhancingprofessionalhealthandperformanceduringhigh-stressconditions.HehasservedasaconsultanttofirstrespondersfollowingdisastersinCanadaandtheUS.Hehasalsoprovidedtrainingonprofessionalhealthandeffectivenessduring trauma relatedwork tomanyorganizationsincluding the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Ministry of AttorneyGeneral, Health Canada and the Indian Residential School AdjudicationSecretariat.Tedhaspresentedat scientificconferences inCanada,theUSA,and theUKand is the co-author of thebook In the Line of Fire:TraumaticStressintheEmergencyServicespublishedbyOxfordUniversityPress.

AssociateMedicalDirector,Dr.JoyAlbuquerquecompletedhermedicaltraining inManitoba then worked as a general practitioner for a fewyears prior to specializing psychiatry, completing her FRCP training inOttawa1997.Witha longstanding interest inmentalhealthadvocacy,she chose to round out her education through graduate training inphilosophy (MA 2007). Dr. Albuquerque joined the OMA’s physicianhealth program as the AssociateMedical Director in 2004,where herrolehasevolvedbeyond themanagementofmentalhealth conditionsto expertise in the field of risk management of physicians and theirwork. She also contributes regularly to medical education eventsdealing with topics of physician health, burnout and resilience. Dr.Albuquerque practices at St. Michael’s Hospital and is an AssistantProfessor at the University of Toronto department of psychiatry.OutsideofmedicineJoyisanavidreaderofclassicsandfictionandforyearssheandherhusbandenjoygoingonlong-distancewalks.

Janet Bodley graduated from University of Toronto Faculty ofMedicine and completed postgraduate training in obstetrics andgynecology in Toronto. She completed fellowship training inurogynecologyandminimally invasive surgeryatWomen’s Collegehospital. She maintains an active practice in urogynecology/minimally invasivesurgery. ShecompletedaMaster’s ineducationin 2007 with focus on the health professions. Special area ofinterest includes the role of communication and mentorship inimprovingmedicaleducationandmedicalpractice.Sheservesasaclinicianeducatorwithactiveteachingrolesat theundergraduate,postgraduate and faculty development levels includingpostgraduate site coordinator as well as rotation coordinator forurogynecology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Shemaintains a career and mentorship focus with Centre for FacultyDevelopment and participates in developing and presentingworkshops both locally and nationally. In January 2011 she wasappointedtobeFacultyLeadfortheResidentWellnessProgramintheDepartmentofObstetrics andGynecology at theUniversityofToronto.

Steven Selchen is a leading expert in the integration ofmindfulness with cognitive-behavioural training. He holds aMaster's degree from Oxford University in Mindfulness-BasedCognitive Therapy (MBCT), as well as a medical degree andpsychiatric specialty from the University of Toronto. He runs aclinical, educational and research program inmindfulness-basedapproaches at SunnybrookHealth Sciences Centre (University ofToronto), where he is Director of Ambulatory PsychiatryandDirectorofContinuingMentalHealthEducation.HeisalsotheChief of Psychiatryat Joseph Brant Hospital (McMasterUniversity).Hehasaparticularfocusonwellnesspromotion,andleads innovative educational and professional developmentworkshopsinavarietyofsettings.

Dr.TinoPiscione,MD,PhD,FRCPCPhysicianAdvisor,SafeMedicalCare,CMPADr.KarenLeslie,MD,MEd,FRCPCProfessorofPaediatricsUniversityofTorontoDirector,CentreforFacultyDevelopmentDr.TheodoreBrown,PhDInvestigator,Lunenfeld-TanenbaumResearchInstitute

Dr.TinoPiscionejoinedtheCMPAinJuly2014,following12yearsasastaffpediatric nephrologist and clinician-scientist in the department ofpediatricsatTheHospitalforSickChildrenandasanassistantprofessorofpediatricsattheUniversityofToronto.Dr.Piscionegraduatedinmedicineat Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1991. He subsequentlycompletedresidencytraininginpediatricsandpediatricnephrologyatTheHospital forSickChildren inToronto in1996.Dr.Piscione’sbackgroundinmedical education stems from past experience as associate and headprogramdirectorofthePaediatricNephrologyResidencyTrainingProgramat the University of Toronto. His interest in patient safety and qualityimprovement is founded on formal education in the Patient Safety &QualityImprovementCertificateProgramatUniversityofToronto.

Karen Leslie is a staff paediatrician in the Division of AdolescentMedicine at the Hospital for Sick Children and a Professor ofPaediatrics at theUniversity of Toronto. She is a clinician educatorand has held various leadership roles in undergraduate,postgraduate, continuing education and faculty development. Shecompleteda graduatedegreeon Education at theOntario InstituteforStudies inEducation(OISE) in2008.Dr.LesliewasnamedastheAssociate Director of the CFD in 2006, and in 2009 became theDirector of the Centre. Her scholarly interests are in the areas offaculty development, career development and mentoring, andacademicidentity.

Dr. Theodore Brown is an Investigator at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum ResearchInstitute, Professor andHeadof theDivisionof ReproductiveEndocrinologyandInfertility within the University of Toronto's Department of Obstetrics andGynaecologyandtheChiefoftheDepartment’sResearchCommittee.Dr.Brownisa reproductive endocrine biologist who was intrigued by the complexity of thisarea,thepotential indirectroleofreproductivefactors,andtheneedtoimproveoutcomesforpatients.Heexaminestherolesteroidhormonesplayincancerriskand progression, with a focus on epithelial ovarian cancer. In order to developeffectivetreatmentsandbetterdiagnostictests,Dr.Brownisworkingto identifymarkers of early stage disease. In collaboration with scientists at Mount SinaiHospital andPrincessMargaretHospital, Dr.Brown isusinggenemicroarrays toidentify themolecular pathways and genes (including BRCA1/2) associated withovarian cancerpredispositionand progression.Dr.Brownholds several researchgrantsincludingCIHRoperativegrantsandisalwayswillingtosharehisexpertisewithhiscolleagues.

Dr.BrianMurray,MD,FRCP(C)D,ABSMAssociateProfessor,NeurologyandSleepMedicine,UniversityofTorontoChair,ResearchEthicsBoard,SunnybrookHealthSciencesCentreDr.RobinRichards,MD,FRCSCSurgeon-in-ChiefEmeritusSunnybrookHealthSciencesCentre

BrianMurrayisanassociateprofessorattheUniversityofTorontoin neurology and is the director of the sleep laboratory atSunnybrookHealthSciencesCentre.Heobtainedboardcertificationin Neurology, and SleepMedicine throughHarvard University. Hismajorclinical and research interests are inneurological aspectsofsleep medicine, and the relationship between sleep andbehaviour.HeistheChairoftheSunnybrookResearchEthicsBoardand the Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons ofCanadaSpecialtyCommitteeinNeurology.

Robin Richards was born in Guelph, Ontario and attended McMasterUniversity where he obtained BA (Geography - 1973) and MD (1976)degrees. He completed the University of Toronto Postgraduate TrainingProgram in Orthopaedic Surgery and received his FRCSC in 1982. Dr.RichardswasaFellowatDukeUniversityin1983andjoinedthestaffofSt.Michael’s Hospital in 1984 where he was Head of the Division ofOrthopaedicSurgery,MedicalDirectoroftheMobilityProgram,ChairoftheMedicalAdvisoryCommitteeand servedon theBoard. Dr. RichardswasHeadoftheDepartmentofSurgeryandCo-DirectoroftheOperatingRoomand Related Services at Sunnybrook HSC from 2001 - 2012. Dr. Richardsmaintains an active surgical practice focusing on arthroplasty of theshoulderandelbow,upperextremityreconstructionfollowingtrauma,softtissue procedures to control joint instabilities in the upper extremity andthesurgical treatmentof irreparablebrachialplexus injury.Dr.Richards isVice Chair – Clinical of the University of Toronto Department of Surgery,ChairoftheAwardsandInternalEvaluationCommittees,MedicalDirectoroftheSunnybrookWorkingConditionProgramandSunnybrookCentreforIndependentLivingandCo-EditoroftheJournalofBoneandJointSurgeryOpen Access. Dr. Richards is a member of the American Academy ofOrthopaedic Surgeons,Past Secretary-Treasurer of theAmericanShoulderand Elbow Surgeons and Past-President of the Ontario and CanadianOrthopaedic Associations. Dr. Richards enjoys stream fishing, cycling andwind-surfing. Dr. Richards has four children ages 28 – 35 and onegrandchild.

DescriptionMedical practice is high stress. Mindfulness is increasingly being used to help professionals work moreeffectively with stress, and to take better care of themselves and their patients. This highly interactiveworkshopwillexplorewhatmindfulnessis,andhowtouseprinciplesfrommindfulnesstoimprovepersonalwellbeingandenhanceprofessionaleffectiveness.ObjectivesAfterparticipationinthissession,facultymemberswillbeableto:
