FOXCONN WISCONSIN
On October 4, 2017, after a six month process, Foxconn announced their intent to develop a2,200 acre campus in Mount Pleasant, WI.
Mount Pleasant is located east of I-94, approximately 10 miles north of theIllinois/Wisconsin border, 60 miles due north of Downtown Chicago and 25 miles south ofMilwaukee. Both O’Hare and General Mitchell Airport can be easily accessed via I-94.
Other national companies with industrial facilities in SE Wisconsin include Amazon, Uline,Jelly Belly, HARIBO, InSinkerator, United Natural Foods, SEDA and Kerry Ingredients.
The Mount Pleasant campus will house a 25M+SF manufacturing facility to primarilymanufacture the iPhone. To put the size in perspective, that is larger than 300 footballfields.
The plant will have an estimated cost of $10 Billion and will employ 13,000 people withinsix years. Foxconn is anticipated to create another 22,000 jobs in Racine County.
The State of Wisconsin has provided Foxconn with over $3 Billion subsidy and acombination of local incentives, utility upgrades, and road construction will add another$1.5 Billion to locate in SE Wisconsin. One of the primary drivers to be in Wisconsin inaccess to Chicago without entanglement in Illinois (and Chicago’s) fiscal and governmentalissues.
Foxconn is excepted to have a $4.26 Billion supply chain with about 33% coming fromWisconsin. With over $1.4 Billion to be generated from new supply chain channels,suppliers and subcontractors will need new industrial facilities in close proximity to Foxconnfrom which to operate. It is anticipated Foxconn will have 250-300 suppliers with mostbeing from the local area.
