    III. School/Instructional Reports (Olivia Adams/Brandy Oeser)

    Principal Olivia Adams talkedabout a book, How Full is Your Bucket which is being discussed in theclassrooms and among the staff. The idea is that we have all have an imaginary bucketand in

    interactions we should think about whether we are filling it up (with thanks, praise, etc) or emptying(mean words, criticism). There is a board in the office where you can leave anonymous drops ofsupport. In addition, this year she has started a blog. And the first Friday of each month Olivia hosts

    coffee with the principal immediatelyfollowing assembly.

    IV. Guest Speaker (Colleen OMara Diamond, Community Outreach & Public Relations Committee)

    Colleen OMara who has a son in Room 3, is overseeing outreach to the Special Ed community andlooking to better integrate with the General Ed with the hopes to grow their participation in school wide

    events. Last year we had 50% participation in the Annual Fundour highest ever. She is also going toserve as the Capitan of the room parents for special Ed. In addition, she is looking to help buildWalgroves profile in the community and beyond through PR and marketing. Her committee is brandnew, so anyone with marketing/writing/public relation skills, please join! [email protected]

    V. Introduction of Committee Heads (Brandy Oeser)Committee heads gave some quick update:

    Library Committee: Need volunteers to help run the library, book fair starts on Aug 23. Sign upinformation at the end of the notes (agenda).Fundraising: We still need a VP of fundraising, but all major fund raising events have a chairperson.

    Dine Outs: First dine out is this week at Menchies, next one is Fresh Brothers.Ralphs: Ralphs fundraising (using your Ralphs club card, a portion of all money spent is donated toFOW) will start next month.

    FOW Swag: Walgrove SWAG are for sale each Friday and each member of the kinder class will get ashirt.Whale of SaleSept 28 and we are asking that donations are pre-priced and clean. Student council willalso be participating. If we can find enough support, it will be a two day sale. Contact: Clare Carey

    ([email protected])Grant CommitteeMeet mornings, looking for volunteers. Contact: Sarah ReimersGreen TeamAnother grant for the Wildlands, and a big thank you to Harriet Shaham for the GrowingGreat program last year. A $1500 grant covers 1-5, and the program helps kids read labels, etc. We arelooking for a master gardener and a chef to work with us on meals.

    VI. Officer and Committee ReportsTwo reports, one from Hospitality and one from Communication.

    Hospitality Committee(Toni/Kelly) Always looking for bakers who are contacted a few times a year to

    help bake for various events.

    Communication(Betsy Carver) We have a school wide newsletter sent via Mailchimp and we are able

    to track who is reading, clicking etc. Right now about 50% open rate and of those, 50% have clicked.

    Still workingout some issues and how to service the population that doesnt have email.

    VIII. New BusinessA. Arts Committee Inquiry (Lynn Jones and Kelly Robinson)

    A new committee in the planning stages to bring more fine arts to the school and better coordinate thevarious programs we do have (Shakespeare, etc). LAUSD is bringing vocal music to the school this yearand have the PS Arts grant.
