Job Site Foreman- Full Time

SUMMARY:

Supports the efforts of the Volunteer Services

Program to provide home repairs for the poor,

disabled and elderly clients. Instructs and guides

volunteer groups in safely executing general

construction and rehab activities. Responsible for

training volunteers to safely handle specialized

equipment and tools. Assesses project sites to

determine the viability of projects that can be

performed by volunteers based on their

competencies and skill levels. Maintains inventory of

all equipment and materials used by volunteers.

Ensures that each work site has appropriate products

and materials available at each job site for volunteers

to begin work. This is a nonexempt position subject

to overtime compensation.

REQUIRED:

High school diploma or GED • A minimum of five

(5) years trade experience directly related to the

duties and responsibilities specified• Must possess

valid driver’s license• Must be comfortable working

62. May the Lord set the Church free from these new

forms of gnosticism and pelagianism that weigh her down

and block her progress along the path to holiness! These

aberrations take various shapes, according to the

temperament and character of each person. So I

encourage everyone to reflect and discern before God

whether they may be present in their lives.

63. There can be any number of theories about what

constitutes holiness, with various explanations and

distinctions. Such reflection may be useful, but nothing is

more enlightening than turning to Jesus’ words and

seeing his way of teaching the truth. Jesus explained with

great simplicity what it means to be holy when he gave us

the Beatitudes (cf. Mt 5:3-12; Lk 6:20-23). The Beatitudes

are like a Christian’s identity card. So if anyone asks:

“What must one do to be a good Christian?”, the answer

is clear. We have to do, each in our own way, what Jesus

told us in the Sermon on the Mount.[66] In the

Beatitudes, we find a portrait of the Master, which we are

called to reflect in our daily lives.

63. Puede haber muchas teorías sobre lo que es la

santidad, abundantes explicaciones y distinciones. Esa

volver a las palabras de Jesús y recoger su modo de

transmitir la verdad. Jesús explicó con toda sencillez qué

es ser santos, y lo hizo cuando nos dejó las

bienaventuranzas (cf. Mt 5,3-12; Lc 6,20-23). Son como

el carnet de identidad del cristiano. Así, si alguno de

nosotros se plantea la pregunta: «¿Cómo se hace para

llegar a ser un buen cristiano?», la respuesta es sencilla:

es necesario hacer, cada uno a su modo, lo que dice Jesús

en el sermón de las bienaventuranzas[66]. En ellas se

dibuja el rostro del Maestro, que estamos llamados a

transparentar en lo cotidiano de nuestras vidas.

SENDING FORTH

FAMILY IDEAS

At the end of Mass, we are sent forth to live our faith. We

share in the mission of the church to proclaim to others

how much our God loves us and all that God has done for

us. We are to live as Jesus taught us and see the face of

Jesus in every other person in our lives. There are many

people in our world who need help in our communities

and in our world. There are many other people who have

not yet met Jesus Christ.

Brainstorm ideas that your family can do together

to help others. This can include going as a family

to meet a new neighbor, donating new craft

supplies to a family shelter, or participating in a

walk to benefit a children’s charity.

Create a kindness corner on your pantry door or

other area. When a family member does

something nice for someone else, let them put

down what they did on a heart and put it on the

door. Use heart sticky notes, if available. Watch

the good deeds grow.

FAMILY PRAYER

Lord Jesus, help our family show compassion t others.

May we witness to your love by the way we live each

day. Help us reach out to people in need of a kind word or

a helping hand. Guide us to live each day as your

disciples. Amen.

NOTE TO FIRST COMMUNION FAMILIES

Plan a family service opportunity that involves your First

Communion child. This can be making craft kits for a

children’s hospital or assembling welcome kits with

personal care items for a shelter. Check family service

ideas in your local community or in your church.

The Priests of the Sacred Heart, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (Srs. Emily and Carolyn) and the

School Sisters of St. Francis (Srs. Margaret Sue, Rose, Ramona Ann and Julene) are giving substantial

financial assistance to the migrants at the border in TX. Sisters of Mercy and Sisters of St. Francis have

community members working full time in McAllen, Laredo and Sr. Emily’s sister, Sr. Emile, DC

(Daughter of Charity) is working in El Paso. All are serving the asylum seekers. Our information from

them is first hand reality news. Because detention centers are full, people are being arrested and given a

letter which says: You have been arrested, you have permission to travel to where sponsors are, usually

family members and you must appear at court on such and such a date.

“What can we do?”

1. PRAY Great idea but prayer usually demands ACTION.

2. Make a donation from a small sacrifice……Sr. Emily can see that it gets to the right people.

3. GO TO THE BORDER TO HELP- You would need to take your car and stay in a hotel. Sr.

Emily has the info if you would like to go to McAllen, TX.

4. Help out at home—Sacred Heart Southern Missions. More information in the gathering space.

5. Go to the MEMPHIS BUS STATION AND HELP OUT.

MARIPOSA (meaning butterfly) is the name of a group of VOLUNTEERS giving help to

asylum seekers who are mainly from Honduras or Guatemala and who have sponsors (family

members) here in the U.S. They have been dropped at bus stations in Texas and are making

their way to sponsor families. 5 or more busloads arrive daily at the Greyhound bus station.

There are 2 ways to volunteer:

A. Assist in helping the asylum seekers get onto the connecting buses in Memphis (major schedule

delays are common with the bus line) heading toward their final destination. There is no one

employed by Greyhound that speaks the language, so Mariposa is there to help and distributing

sandwiches and snacks, water, distribute clothing, diapers, toiletries etc. as needed at the Greyhound

Bus Station on Airways near the airport. There are at least 5 buses that come into the Memphis

Terminal every day including weekends. With at least 35 buses coming in the need is great for

volunteers.

B. Prepare the sack lunches given out at the bus terminal. Prepare toiletry bags, sort clothes, etc.

This is done at the First Congregational Church located at 1000 South Cooper Ave. Memphis, TN.

38104. Preparation is done in 2 shifts @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM every day.

Information and training is held every Tuesday night at 6.00 pm at First Congregational Church.

This session is about 90 minutes long.

Los Sacerdotes del Sagrado Corazón, las Hermanas de la Misericordia de las Américas (Hermanas Emily y

Carolyn) y las Hermanas de la Escuela de San Francisco (Hermanas Margaret Sue, Rose, Ramona Ann y

Julene) brindan asistencia financiera sustancial a los migrantes en la frontera en Texas. Las Hermanas de la

Misericordia y las Hermanas de San Francisco tienen miembros de la comunidad que trabajan a tiempo

5. Vaya a la ESTACIÓN DE AUTOBUSES GREYHOUND DE MEMPHIS Y AYUDE.

MARIPOSA es el nombre de un grupo de VOLUNTARIOS que brindan ayuda a los solicitantes de asilo

que son principalmente de Honduras o Guatemala y que tienen patrocinadores (miembros de la familia)

aquí en los Estados Unidos. Estas personas abordan autobuses en Texas y viajan hacia las ciudades en

donde viven sus patrocinadores. Diariamente 5 o más autobuses llegan a la estación de autobuses de

Greyhound.

Hay 2 formas de ser voluntario:

A. Ayudar a los solicitantes de asilo a subir a los autobuses de conexión en Memphis (los retrasos en

tiene a nadie que hable español, por lo que Mariposa está allí para ayudar y distribuir bocadillos,

Greyhound en Airways cerca del aeropuerto. Hay al menos 5 autobuses que llegan a la Terminal de
