Fourier’s Competitive Advantage

Product Advantages• Immediate ROI – Zero implementation and infrastructure costs• Quality – Greater number/variety of inputs, accuracy, memory

and sampling rate• Flexible - Data transfer to any computing platform - PC, MAC and Palm • Independent monitoring - Immediate feedback via stand-alone

graphic display• Intuitive, ease-of-use - Simple keypads, icon driven menus in

loggers/software

Company Advantages• 20 Years Experience - R&D knowledge-base, established markets and

proven applications in 40 countries• Wireless Pioneers - in-house development (reducing cost & time to market)• Responsive - High R&D investment, quickly reacting to market needs • Low Pricing - Efficient operation and outsourced manufacturing

Market Challenges

• Complex and multiple environmental monitoring from within a single network

• Strict storage and transport regulations for on-line monitoring (e.g. FDA and CFR)

• Increased automated industrial processes and home automation

• Growing need for low cost, portable data acquisition systems for medium and lower segment applications

Existing methods of paper recording and electronic data loggers are not enough:• Room for human error• No centralized view & reporting system• No data analysis options • No predefined, centralized alarm system• Complex infrastructure and cabling

Food Processing & Storage Example

"About 30% of the fruits and vegetables grown in India (40 million tons amounting to US$13 billion) get wasted annually due to gaps in the cold chain such as poor infrastructure, insufficient cold storage capacity, unavailability of cold storages in close proximity to farms, poor transportation infrastructure, etc."

"About 30-35% of the losses can be reduced by transporting the freshly harvested fruits and vegetables in refrigerated containers“Institute for Scientific and Technical Information – France

MicroLite – Case Study

Company: Sea Star, Established in 1983Ships highly perishable frozen seafood samples to brokers and customers across the United States.

• Challenge: MicroLite data loggers are used to ensure that the proper amount of frozen gel packs for refrigeration must be used in each shipment. Too few would result in product spoilage, and too many would result in excessive air freight charges.

• Requirements: A water resistant logger that is compact, accurate, low cost and easy-to-use. Data analysis software that could provide detailed analysis of the shipment from origin to destination, allowing Sea Star to optimize its shipping process.

• Solution: MicroLite loggers provide accurate and reliable confirmation of temperatures during shipping, and result in substantial cost savings in air freight, refrigerant packs, and product loss.

• Method: During packing of samples, a MicroLite logger is placed in the insulated shipping box with a postage-paid return envelope for its return to Sea Star after delivery. The logger is programmed to start when the courier arrives to pick up the package. Samples are recorded at 1 minute intervals during the overnight shipment. The logger is returned to Sea Star and the data is downloaded for analysis.

DaqPRO – Case Study

Company: American Honda Car Manufacturer

Challenge: Honda technicians must travel to Manufacturers wishing to incorporate Honda engines into their own products. They must perform compatibility tests by monitoring different engine location operating temperatures.

• Requirements: Simple, turn-key, independent, battery operated method for all offices and distributors across the US to record engine and operating temperatures. Data must be displayed and analyzed without connection to PC and without a high level of computer literacy.

• Solution:DaqPRO is the product of choice for the General Purpose engine group of American Honda. To provide on-the-spot accurate and complete information.

• Method: Technicians travel to the site and use 6 different scenarios on the DaqPRO when testing. Each one of these scenarios is a default setting. They will use the internal ambient temperature sensor in I/O-1 and anywhere from 2 to 5 type K thermocouples in the other inputs.

MicroLog/MicroLog PRO Family Hardware

MicroLog Case Study

Company: Exporter Greenwings and Wageningen Agro technologists Cut flowers exporter Holland to Japan

Challenge: High temperature and humidity levels during worldwide export journeys of up to a week reduce quality and humidity causes botrytis

• Requirements: Tracking and tracing system charting delivery from supplier to customer and determine where obstacles occur to enable proactive, preventative measures.

• Solution: MicroLog humidity and temperature data logger monitor the journeys’ climate conditions and help structurally reduce quality loss of the flowers by developing a quality progress report.

• Method:MicroLog data loggers are attached to the flowers, measuring temperature and humidity every 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Japan, the data loggers are removed by the customer and mailed back to Greenwings in attached envelops. The data on the data loggers is then uploaded via an internet site to a central database.
