Instructions:

Trace all pattern pieces onto freezer paper and cut out in the following quanitites: Four

trees, nine large foliage, six small foliage, one fallen leaves, one fallen snow, five

snowflakes.

To use the freezer paper templates, place them shiny side down on the WoolFelt. Set

the iron to the wool setting with no steam; the iron must be dry. Iron the freezer paper

onto the WoolFelt, pressing down for a few seconds until the freezer paper sticks.

Cut pieces from WoolFelt as follows:

o Cut four trees from brown WoolFelt

o Cut one fallen snow and five snowflakes from white WoolFelt. Also, freehand cut

three semi-circles for the snow on the branches.

o Cut one small and one large foliage piece from yellow WoolFelt.

o Cut one small and one large foliage piece from gold WoolFelt.

o Cut two large and one small foliage pieces from orange WoolFelt.

o Cut one fallen leaves from orange WoolFelt.

o Cut four large foliage, and two small foliage from green WoolFelt #1.

o Cut one large foliage and one small foliage from green WoolFelt #2.

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the fleece pieces to the corresponding-

sized pieces of cotton fabric. Set the 8” square aside.

Using a back stitch, applique the appropriate pieces on each cotton/fleece panel, as

shown in Figures A-D. (Stitching details and positions of appliques are shown in photos.

NOTE: Position the bottom of each tree trunk 2” from the edge of each cotton/fleece

panel.)

On the Spring and Summer panels, embroider the flower details. The pink cherry

blossoms are made with a lazy daisy stitch. The yellow flowers are made with a lazy

daisy stitch and back stitch for stems. Detailed embroidery instructions are available at:

Lay the “hook” side of the Velcro strip face down on one of the appliqued panels, and

attach as shown in Figure E. Repeat with the “loop” side face up on another panel with

an opposing season, Spring/Fall or Summer/Winter. (See Figure E.)

Figure E: Velcro

Fold under a ½” hem at the bottom of each panel. Topstitch ¼” from edge.

Pin the cording/handle to the right side of the reserved 8” cotton/fleece square.

Assemble the door stop by sewing the four 8” x 9.5” panels, right sides together, in

correct seasonal order. The two panels with Velcro attached should not be next to each

other. Use a ¼” seam and stop stitching ¼” from the top. Reinforce at this point. (See

Figure F.)

Figure F: Assembly

Attach the top 8” square to the four sides in the same manner. Be sure the ends of the

handle are caught in two of the seams.

If needed, reinforce the corners of the cube with hand stitching. Turn the cube right-side

out. (See Figure G.)

Figure G: Top

Construct a box from the cardboard pieces. Tape together the four 7” x 8” pieces cardboard

for the sides. Add one of the 7” squares for a bottom.

Turn the finished fabric cube upside down. Place the box inside.

Place the zip-lock bag inside the box and fill with rice or other substance for weight. Close

the bag. (See Figure H.)

Tape the other 7” square on to the cardboard cube to finish it off. (See Figure H.)

Fasten the Velcro strips across the cardboard cube to secure. (See Figure H.)
