WELCOME TO OUR ENTRY 1COURSES
Entry 1 Courses
Our courses are delivered over a three-day week and we offer 1-1 and 1-2 support. Our aim is for students to work on their independence skills so that they are ready for their next steps in life. We go out in the community once a week to explore many places and to participate in work experience. We also complete travel training throughout the year.
We have one day in the classroom to work on Skills for Life, Maths and English.

Entry 1A Introduction to Personal Progression
Our Entry 1A classroom
WELCOME TO OUR CLASSOur course is Entry 1A Introduction to Personal Progression is a two-year course designed for students who require a higher level of support with their needs both personally and academically.
Our highly skilled staff ensure our young people feel safe and comfortable in their college life and their passion to increase independence, life skills and opportunities is evident by student progression and success.
Academically we support students who are working at standards 2 and 3 (equivalent to P Scales 7 and 8).
We are able to support students who require some basic personal care assistance and hand over hand support.
The course is delivered on a very practical level.
Progression from Entry 1A would be to Entry 1B or 1C, and destinations / next steps have included transition to other colleges, day services and supported agencies.

Entry 1B & 1C Development in Personal Progression
Welcome to our Entry 1B and 1C class. Our course is for students working towards Entry Level 1, although we do cater for students that are working at a higher level but still need a high level of support in the classroom and during breaks.
Students work towards English and Maths Ascentis qualifications and all students are stretched and challenged, given work to suit their individual abilities. We encourageour students to be as independent as possible and focus on practical skills that will develop the student personally,aiming for our students to grow into confident and independent adults.
We prepare our students for life after college working on skills for life which includes workskills and participating in work experience on a regular basis. The course isdelivered on a practical level.
Progression from Entry 1B, is to Entry 1C or Entry 2, and destinations / next steps have included transition to other colleges, day services and supported agencies.

The Zone
Reception The Canteen
This is where our friendly reception team will be able to help you with any queries you may have.
The students are able to go to the canteen and choose and pay for their meals or take a packed lunch to eat in the canteen.
The Zone is a social area for our students where they have theopportunity to play pool, foosball, games or just to chat.

North Cafe Coffee Society Cafe
The Shop
The College shop is run by our Foundation students.There will be an opportunity for students to work in the
shop on a rotation basis. Students can visit the shop during their breaks to buy
snacks and drinks.
The North Cafe is a great place to relax with a hot drink.
They sell hot snacks and drinks and have a pool table and computers for students to use.
Coffee Society Cafe is a great place to socialise with a hot drink. They also sell hot snacks and sandwiches.

Sports/Bouldering Room Animal Care
For Entry 1B and 1C our students participate in 12 weeks of sports.
We have the use of the on-site bouldering room. In Entry 1A this is currently not on the timetable, however we do join in on occasions.
For Entry 1A, animal care is on the timetable weekly. Entry 1B and 1C students will participate in 12 weeks of animal care.
There is also an opportunity for students to choose animal care as their enrichment option in Entry 1B and 1C.

Cookery Community Day
Every week we go out into the community. We participate in work experience and travel training but also enjoy
visiting museums, shopping, eating out, going to the cinema, bowling and many more fun and educational activities.
Promoting students’ independence is vital and students handle their own money and buy their own tickets.
For Entry 1A, cookery is on the timetable weekly. Entry 1B and 1C students will participate in 12 weeks of cookery.
This is an opportunity for students to learnvaluable life skills as well as making somedelicious recipes.
Work Experience
Every other week the students participate in work experience in the community.
Work experience gives the students valuable experience and encourages independence, working as part of a team but also working independently. Students also learn to follow instructions from a variety of people.

Options For Entry 1B and 1C only
Our students are able to choose an option that they participate in weekly throughout the year. At present the students can choose between animal care, horse riding, horticulture, mechanics, floristry, art and football (these may change each year).
