Pupil participation is an integral part of the whole school ethos.

Pupil Consultation is embedded into the school ethos and written into any relevant school documentation.

The school actively seeks pupil input on important issues relating to school development

Pupils have regular opportunities to discuss issues that concern them.

A discussion mode is established across the curriculum.

Senior management recognises and supports the pupil councils

structure as being central to school development.

Staff understand and support pupil councils and pupil participation –

year heads support year councils, form teachers support and enable regular discussions in form group time.

Pupil councils communicate effectively with all partners in the school community, including:

• noticeboards – whole school (central) and in the classroom

• pupils make reports in assembly

• pupils have meetings with staff, governors and the senior leadership team

• use is made of email and the school website.

The pupil council nurtures a “no moans” culture.
