*Hello and thank you for coming here today. My name is [name], Im an internist and [general/subspecialist/type of practice] from [town/state].

Today Im going to speak to you about how ACP has gained prominence on the national stage as the collective voice for internists, what we need to accomplish in order to extend our influence further and how it depends on growing our numbers, what ACP offers to you in resources and guidance, and our vision for the future.

And most importantly, were here to listen to you and hear your concerns, so that we can address them at the Governor and Regent level.

*ACPs Research Center conducts extensive research each year on why members join ACP. Results reflect how our members value our various resources and benefits. *ACP works to support members in professional competence. For example, this year, ACP introduced LEAD, the Leadership Enhancement and Development program, to encourage and guide younger members interested in leadership. The program is multi-faceted, helps to develop leadership skills, and features an online discussion group and CME courses offered at our annual meeting.

Similarly, there are several mentoring resources and activities available to younger members including an online mentoring database, and mentoring events and social gatherings offered both at the Internal Medicine meeting and on a chapter level.
