It is with great pleasure we invite your participation in Australia’s premier freight logistics and supply chain event for 2015 – the Australian Logistics Council Forum 2015.
The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) is the peak national logistics industry body, with a supply chain focus and a membership spanning the major logistics customers, providers, infrastructure owners and suppliers.
ALC is the leader in the national debate on critical issues affecting the Australian logistics industry and works with government at all levels to ensure it considers the needs of logistics in its investment and policy decisions.
ALC focuses its advocacy efforts on four key areas with the aim of improving supply chain efficiency:
•Supply Chain Logistics Safety
•Infrastructure
•Regulation
•Technology
Our annual event, the ALC Forum 2015 will be held at the impressive Melbourne Cricket Ground from 10-12 March 2015.
The theme of the ALC Forum is Delivering for Australia and will focus on many of the themes raised in a recent ACIL Allen report to ALC The Economic Significance of the Australian Logistics Industry.
Leaders from industry and government will gather for two big days to raise awareness of the significance of the logistics industry to the Australian Economy.
The Forum will provide delegates with a unique and valuable networking opportunity, attracting around 300 high calibre delegates and speakers from industry and government including federal and state ministers, CEO’s, public sector leaders and senior purchasing, freight, logistics and supply chain managers.
The ALC Forum 2015 is organised by and for industry, we hope you participate in this not to be missed event.
Lock it in the diary – 10-12 March and if past conferences are any indication, get in early to secure registration to this unrivalled Forum.
Yours sincerely
Don Telford Chairman Australian Logistics Council
Michael Kilgariff Managing Director Australian Logistics Council

THE THEME OF THE 2015 FORUM IS DELIVERING FOR AUSTRALIA
The Forum will continue to focus on many of the themes raised in a recent ACIL Allen report to ALC The Economic Significance of the Australian Logistics Industry, which quantified the true size, scope and breadth of the Australian logistics industry. The report found the Australian Logistics Industry:
• Represents 8.6% of the nation’s GDP in 2013
• Directly contributed $131.6 billion to Australia’s economy in 2013.
• Employs around 1.2 million people
• a 1% improvement in the efficiency of the sector generates $2 billion of gains to the economy.
The report demonstrates that all Australians will benefit from more efficient supply chains, however, greater government focus and attention is required on a number of key areas to achieve these efficiency improvements, which will be the focus of ALC Forum 2015:
• investment in critical logistics infrastructure
• greater certainty on planning for freight
• eliminating overlapping regulations which affect productivity
• ensuring there is a whole-of-supply chain focus on strategic corridors
• harmonising regulation and reducing red tape
• establishing a network of efficient intermodal facilities
• greater use of railways and high-productivity vehicles
