Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the UnitedStates of America in Congress assembled, That the act entitled " An act

Marine Hospi- to provide for the construction of a marine hospital in the city of Mem-tal, Memphis, phis, Tennessee", approved May third, eighteen hundred and eighty,

1 Stat. 109 be, and the same is hereby, amended by inserting after the word " pur-chase", in the second section of said act, the words "at voluntary saleor by condemnation", so that said act will read:

"That the Surgeon-General of the Marine Hospital Service be, andhe is hereby authorized and empowered to procure a proper site in ornear the city of Memphis, Tennessee, and cause to be erected thereon abuilding suitable for a marine hospital, after plans and specificationswhich shall be furnished under his direction by the Supervising Archi-tect of the Treasury Department.

Appropriation. ' SEC. 2. That the sum of thirty thousand dollars, or so much there-of as may be necessary, be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, outof any money now in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be ex-pended by the Secretary of the Treasury in the purchase, at voluntarysale or by condemnation, of said site, and the erection of the aforesaidbuilding thereon; and the cost of the site and the erection of the build-ing shall in no event exceed the sum hereby appropriated".
