To All,
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. We are excited for up-coming meetings and hope to see everyone in attendance. Don't miss next week's meeting when we will hear from our GEM award winner, Amira Fox.
It is an exciting time for Republicans in Florida. Former Governor and now Senator Rick Scott will be working for us in Washington as Governor Ron DeSantis takes the helm in Florida. The Orlan-do Sentinel reports that Governor DeSantis will "face plenty of important decisions in his first days in office. He must name three Florida Supreme Court justices; address uncertainty over how to grant voting rights to ex-felons; fill out remaining vacancies in his administration and assess how to respond to a report on school safety recommendations from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Commission." Make sure to stay tuned as the Governor moves through his first 100 days in office.
See you all soon--
In your service,
Angela

Jonathan A. Martin was born in Iowa, but has called Lee County his home since early childhood. He played basketball for the Green Wave at Fort Myers High and devel-oped an appreciation for the small town feel that Fort Myers has to offer. Jonathan knew he had to broaden his horizon in order to receive the education he needed to serve his community. Jonathan attended Stetson University from 2000-2004, where he majored in Political Science, Religious Studies, and minored in Business Admin-istration. While enrolled, Jonathan was President of the Student Government Associ-ation, attending Board of Trustees meetings and presenting the SGA annual report. In 2004 Jonathan received a generous full tuition scholarship to attend Liberty Universi-
ty School of Law. Once again Jonathan found himself in leadership positions as the founding Chair of the Honor Council and found-ing president of the Federalist Society. He also served as a law clerk for the City Attorney's Office in Fort Myers, which allowed him
to be exposed to various areas of the law, including personal injury cases from the defense perspective. NImmediately after law school Jonathan returned to Southwest Florida in 2007 and accepted appointment as an Assistant State Attorney. After trying eight cases in a little over a month, Jonathan was one of very few prosecutors in the State to be sent to the rigorous Gerald T. Bennett Prosecutor/Public Defender Trial Training at the University of Florida. After a few additional months prosecuting misdemeanor and juvenile cases, Jonathan began prosecuting felony cases. He was soon promoted to the position of the sole prosecutor in Glades County where he handled a heavy caseload that included every criminal prosecution in the county - from misdemeanor to murder The focus of Jonathan's career is to give back to his community, helping those who have been harmed by others, having participated in 89 trials. However, it has always been important for him to find the time to be extremely active in his community. He is an active member of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee. He has served as the President of the Hendry-Glades Bar As-sociation, on the Board of Directors for a local school, with his church's various ministries, including traveling to Guatemala to help rebuild homes after a volcano eruption. Jonathan is currently employed as an attorney with Parvey & Frankle, P.A. and is the Chair-man of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee.
