Dear Parents/Guardians:
With the onset of warmer weather, I wanted to remind everyone of our dress code that was
developed in accordance with our Policy No. 508. This policy states that student dress must “not
endanger student or public health, not be disruptive to the educational process, and meet reasonable
standards of appropriateness.”
Pupils are expected to be clean and well groomed in their appearance at all times. This policy was
developed so that pupils avoid extremes in appearance that are disruptive or distracting and also to
avoid dress or grooming that jeopardizes the health and/or safety of the pupil or other pupils.
Some of the seasonal articles and clothing that are prohibited in school are:
Unsafe footwear, including but not limited to flip flops, slippers, platform shoes, or
sneakers/shoes with attached wheels in the heel of the shoe.
Short skirts, shorts, etc., that are overly revealing.
Suggestive clothing, including but not limited to tight fitting or transparent clothes, low-riding
pants, bare midriffs, tank tops, muscle shirts, shirts with very skinny shoulder straps, tube
tops, pajamas, etc.
Hats, caps, head coverings, sweat bands, bandanas, etc. These items, if worn to and from
school, must be removed upon entering the building.
Tee shirts and/or other articles of clothing that depict/promote/advertise any of the
following: alcohol; drugs; violent themes/acts (ex: weapons/fighting/gangs); inappropriate
language; inappropriate gestures.
Thank you for your fullest and anticipated cooperation and support in this regard. If you have any
questions or concerns, please call me at 215-809-6320.

Neshaminy Pre-K Counts is a state funded program that provides a FREE high quality
pre-school education to children who are three or four years of age by September 1 and whose families are residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Families must meet the financial guidelines. For instance, a family of four may earn up to $71,500 and still qualify.
The program is five days-a-week, three hours-a-day (9:00 AM to noon) and is located within a STAR THREE pre-school, Land of Children, in Feasterville.
Families are responsible for transportation to and from the school each day. Daily attendance and being on-time is essential. Parents/Guardians are expected to attend monthly one-hour meetings and parent-teacher conferences throughout the year.
Families who meet these guidelines may contact Mrs. Cunningham at 215-809-6552 to request an application. Or, you may email Dr. Christine McKee at: [email protected]

On Thursday, April 10, 2015, our entire student body enjoyed a day with visiting author, Kay Winters. Kay is a former educator and local Bucks County resident who has authored both fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books. Classroom teachers shared Kay’s books with students prior to the visit and even worked with students on writing assignments mimicking Kay’s style. The children participated in grade-level specific assemblies with Kay, which all captivated the audience’s attention. Our 5th graders prepared especially for Kay’s visit by performing a Reader’s Theatre Script using Kay’s book, Colonial Voices Hear Them Speak. We thank the PTO for their generosity and support of this worthwhile assembly.

Olympians earn a Blue Ribbon
This year eleven 5th graders participated in the annual
County Wide Reading Olympic Competition held on April 9,
2014 at Neshaminy High School. The 5th graders who
participated began practices in October and cumulatively
read 45 books. To prepare for the competition, students
recorded the plots, characters, and information learned in
the books on story maps and graphic organizers,
participated in discussions, took online quizzes, and held
practice rehearsals for the actual competition. The 5th
Graders participated in 3- 45 minute rounds, being asked
approximately 70 questions the night of competition. The
team earned 59 points well above the 50 point marker
needed to secure a Blue or 1st Place Ribbon. Our heartfelt
congratulations are extended to the 5th Grade 2014 Samuel
