This year’s theme is Energy Resilience Enables Army Readiness” because energy is key to everything the Army does. The 2nd ABCT, 1st Infantry Division and 3rd ABCT, 4th Infantry Division, recently conducted a transfer of authority ceremony in Poland. The 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, recently cased the unit’s colors for a nine-month deployment to Korea. U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers recently made history as they became the first DoD Federal Coordinating Center ever activated for natural disaster relief. The Army campaign is designed to increase readiness through improving awareness of cyber threats and incidents as well as their impact to Army missions. The Cybersecurity Awareness efforts also highlight how Soldiers and civilians need to respond in order to safeguard the Army. This campaign will expand awareness to help improve online safety and increase the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident. Robert B. “Abe” Abrams said the Army must change the way it thinks about and works toward consistent levels of readiness. “We have got to get our Army into a footing of being ready all the time,” he said. The commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, Abrams is charged with ensuring Soldiers are prepared to fill the require- ments of combatant commanders around the world. At the Association of the U.S. Army annual meeting in Washington, he led a panel discus- sion on the changing face of Army readiness titled “Ready Now.” Abrams said the nation no longer has the luxury of preparing for planned deployments. In- stead, Soldiers could be needed on short notice to respond to one or more of the many threats facing the nation. The mindset, he said, is more akin to what the Army experienced during the Cold War, when units in Europe were on standby to deploy at a moment’s notice. “We never knew when the call would come,” he said. “It was a mindset. We had to be ready all the time. We don’t have that right now in our Army.” Joining Abrams on the panel were Maj. Gen. Joseph M. Martin, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, Kansas; Maj. Gen. Joe Jarrard, adjutant general of the Geor- gia Army National Guard; Col. Christopher Norrie, chief of operations group at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California; and Elizabeth P.
