FORMENTOR: PREMIUM CULTURAL DESTINATION IN MAJORCA

In his article “Letter to Tomeu Buadas, in the other world”, published in La Vanguardia on the 9th of March 1973, the author Camilo José Cela praised the meetings of international poets from Carles Riba to Robert Graves, as well as Vicente Aleixandre, in the Formentor Hotel, and he remembers the creative, intellectual atmosphere that this unique place offered.

The objective of the Barceló Group, since the incorporation of the hotel into the company, is to recuperate the essence of Formentor; the dream of its creator, Adan Diehl, an Argentinean millionaire enamoured of the place, who converted it into a refuge for artists from all over the world.

A dream taken up by the Buadas family, creators of the Formentor Prize, a literary award that became one of the most important in Europe.

Orchestra in a spectacular concert overlooking the sea.

Mikhail Tatarnikov is the Principal Conductor of the prestigious Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. He is considered to be one of the foremost figures in classical music in Russia today.

Larissa Gergieva is the Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers, General Director of the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition for Young Opera Singers and Artistic Director of the Vladikavkaz Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

ZUBIN MEHTA in Majorca

(Bombay, now Mumbai, 1936). Chief Conductor of the Indian Orchestra. Son of Mehli Mehta, founder of the Bombay (Mumbai) Symphonic Orchestra. His career as conductor took off quickly, succeeding others in the most prestigious orchestras throughout the world. His spectacular manner of conducting and his versatility, suitable for any repertoire, from classical to the most intricate contemporary scores have made him one of the favourite conductors of music lovers.
