Edit ...Toll nakas and corruption

The recent spurt on toll collection received wide support for MNS leader Raj Thackeray at a time when election is around the corner. It gives the citizen some relief in terms of the much talked about the events that the toll collection will come to end like the Octroi collection. The result of the agitation also seen good spirit from the government as many of the toll collection been abolished hence it is victory for MNS.

The existing system of collecting toll at nakas are quite vulnerable to corruption, as many a time the actual money collected and the number of vehicles passed through are not matched. The government usually gives this work to third parties which exploit fully chances of making money.

The collection of toll would have been better if this handled by the government, which apparently dolls out in red tapism and infrastructural issues along with logistical issues. There are tolls all over the state and day and night, stiff toll is collected. Somebody is making extra profits: A lot of money is siphoned off. Nobody questions the amount collected at toll centres. They collect throughout the year – for many years even after all the expenditure is recovered. Perhaps the government does not want to do this work which entails devising an expensive system.

As a result, a lot of corruption takes place. There is evidently considerable scope for collecting huge amounts of money. According to the MNS leaders, large-scale corruption prevails and private parties make huge profit – several crores. The pertinent question is whether it would not have been possible for the government to devise a system which completely eliminates corrupt practices. The government is not likely to concede to the demand of the MNS for having free toll all over Maharashtra. It may however agree to change some ways of collecting toll – a new way which eliminates corruption.

WOMANHOODIn Womanhood we find the mothers of the raceIt is the woman who rocks the cradle of the world and Holds the first affections of mankindShe possesses a power beyond that of a king on his throneWOMANHOOD stands for all that is pure, clean and nobleShe who does not make the world better for hav-ing lived in ithas failed to be all that a woman should be.

Being a WOMAN is terribly difficult, since it con-sists principally in dealing with men.You educate a Man, you educate a person; you educate a WOMAN, you educate a GENERATION.A SALUTE TO WOMANHOOD !!

THE TRUE BEAUTY OF A WOMANFor attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find it at the end of your arms, one for help-ing yourself and the other for helping othersThe Beauty of a WOMAN is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair; the Beauty of a Woman must be seen in her eyes becoz that is the doorway to her HEART, the place where LOVE resides; an uncon-ditional love that she selflessly gives as a lover, wife, mother, daughter, sister and your loving FRIEND.To me, Being a WOMAN is a blessing from GOD and would not change it for anything in the world! HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY TO ALL !

Jasmine SahukarThere is too much aggression and angst in to-day’s world. We need more feminity all around to bring more calm and harmony. Women and more feminity in all - men and women will bring

about this change. We need to lead the change ... Like a woman.

FloydThe pride of being a woman is much greater when you are equal among equals and rise to every occasion to justify that your capabilities are not undermined by lack of physical strength. Happy Women’s Day to each woman around the Globe for overcoming all odds and making lives happier and merrier on this Earth.

Prabhavathi IyerAs I watch the shooting star flash across the sky. I thank it once again for having you in my life! I love you sweetheart!
