Introduction This bulletin serves as an update on the Forensic Pathology Services issues as follows; § Danger allowance § Career Development and Scope of Practice § Amendment of the PHSDSBC Resolution 2 of 2010: Occupational Specific Dispensation for Therapeutic, Diagnostic and related Allied Health Professionals regarding the Forensic Pathology Officers All the above issues were tabled in the Public Health Social Development Sectoral Bargaining Council. Danger allowance The special bargaining council meeting was convened on the 15 June 2017, to continue with engagement on the danger allowance for employees in the forensic pathology services. The parties agreed to re-introduce the danger allowance with effect from 1st April 2017 and also negotiate the payment of remedial once-off amount for qualifying employees since the allowance was stopped. The employer requested time to finalize their mandate with the principals. The parties agreed to reconvene the special council meeting on the 21 June 2017 or early to sign the collective agreement. Career Development and Scope of Practice The matter was discussed in the special council meeting held on the 15 June 2017 and the union tabled the proposal as follows; § To introduce dissecting allowance with effect from 1st April 2017 with the following terms and conditions; a) The FPOs will be authorized to perform dissecting work under the direct supervision and direction of the responsible pathologist or medical officer; and b) Department will pay a provisional dissecting allowance to the FPOs while the parties at the PHSDSBC negotiate and conclude a sustainable model for professionalization and career pathing within six months after attaining majority signature. Review of the PHSDSBC Resolution 2 of 2010: Occupational Specific dispensation (OSD) for Therapeutic, Diagnostic and related Allied Health Professionals regarding the Forensic Pathology Officers In the bargaining council meeting of the 15th June 2017, the employer requested more time to finalize the situational analysis report. The parties agreed to convene the special council meeting on the 21 June 2017, for employer to table the written report. Conclusion We have noted the situation of our members in the Forensic Pathology Services across the country and in that regard the union is working tirelessly to conclude an agreement on the above issues. Introduction

This bulletin serves as an update on the Forensic Pathology Services issues as follows;§ Danger allowance§ Career Development and Scope of Practice§ Amendment of the PHSDSBC Resolution 2 of 2010: Occupational Specific Dispensation for Therapeutic, Diagnostic and related Allied Health Professionals regarding the Forensic Pathology Officers

All the above issues were tabled in the Public Health Social Development Sectoral Bargaining Council.

Danger allowance

The special bargaining council meeting was convened on the 15 June 2017, to continue with engagement on the danger allowance for employees in the forensic pathology services. The parties agreed to re-introduce the danger allowance with effect from 1st April 2017 and also negotiate the payment of remedial once-off amount for qualifying employees since the allowance was stopped.

The employer requested time to finalize their mandate with the principals. The parties agreed to reconvene the special council meeting on the 21 June 2017 or early to sign the collective agreement.
