After presenting the theme for the session, the client will start interacting with the herd of horses. Thecoach or therapist will observe behavioral patterns and use a specific technique to identify affirmations, entanglements or hidden thoughts within minutes. Through practical exercises and the direct responseof the horses, the client will restore his “Sense of Coherence” which is essential for healthy coping withcomplex situations. The innate sensitivity of horses and their herd dynamics play an important role inthe success of the method. Interacting with the herd and projecting towards the horses helps the clientto develop a profound understanding of his relationships and enables him to change towards new andhealthier coping mechanisms or behavioral patterns. Sessions are conducted at specially preparedsites with several horses who live under natural conditions and are prepared for the work with non-violent training techniques. Age or breed of the horses is of secondary influence.

Horse guided Empowerment® was born in 2008 as an innovative method that combines Psychotherapy and Coaching with the guiding principles of natural horse management and non-violent training techniques. We are inspired by the innate sensitivity of horses and partner with them to facilitate team training, personal development sessions or trauma therapy with individuals, groups, and families of all ages and abilities. Since 2008, we have served over 10.000 people of all cultures and trained 60+ practitioners from nine countries in South America and Europe.

Our certification groups are held in extraordinary locations with lots of space where partially tamed or rescued herds develop their full potential. Taking a workshop at those places not only gives you a whole new perspective on horses, it also helps to rehabilitate horses and creates an income for the rescue centers that allows them to continue their work. The groups are small and diverse, with 1-1 supervision by Christina Marz, the founder of Horse guided Empowerment.

“Since childhood, I have been fascinated by horses andespecially enjoyed training the so-called “problemhorses”. They have helped me to control my impulsesand gave me a healthy self-esteem in a difficult familysituation. Sitting with them in the pasture wasrestorative and healing for me. Working with horsesmade me brave, sensitive and creative. I had to believein the horse to be successful and I experienced firsthand how my own attitude influenced the herd. Aftergraduating high school I studied psychology and movedto South America, where I could be with big herds innature. When I started to include horses in socialprojects and witnessed how the horses helped meshape the personalities of the participating kids, I beganto structure a method. At this time, I was working with120 horses in non-violent training techniques, selectingthe best ideas from experts such as Hempfling, Parelli, and Resnick. At the same time, I deepened myknowledge in respectful education, animal-assistedtherapy, systemic constellations and trauma therapy. Now in 2019, I define myself as a Family Counselorwith a specialization in trauma and dedicate most of mytime to rescuing horses, attending retreat clients, developing my method, and to training otherprofessionals all over the world. My certified studentsare in charge of leading workshops in my chosen homecountry Ecuador which allows me to bring myphilosophy to new corners of this world and therebymake Horse guided Empowerment® available formore people!”
