Pre-Apprentice Bus Engineer - New
We have a fantastic opportunity for a pre-apprentice bus engineer with a bus travel operator based in Eastleigh. The successful young person will be developing a range of skills and experience in bus maintenance sufficient to meet the requirements for application for future apprenticeship positions. Duties will include-
To work with nominated tradesperson/ supervisor or team as and when required in order to gain experience in bus maintenance.
To take personal responsibility for all plant and equipment issued and to be responsible for all materials supplied.
Under direction, ensure all necessary paperwork relating to the job/ section is completed.
Under direction, to ensure that daily checks are completed on any vehicle or plant used to complete works.
Required to contribute to the safe working environment of employees within the company by complying with all instruction relating to health and safety.
37 hours per week- 12 months- National Minimum wage
Must be able to travel to and from Eastleigh on a daily basis (travel warrant maybe issued depending on performance).
Applicants for these positions must be 16- 24 years old and from a disadvantaged background which could include being homeless or at risk of homelessness, they may be an ex-offender committed to not re-offending or, a care leaver and/or have a learning difficulty.

Cruise ship stewards are part of the housekeeping team on board a cruise ship. As a cabin steward, you would be responsible for cleaning and servicing the rooms (or cabins) of the guests. In this role you will need to be polite and friendly. You will use your customer service skills to make sure that the guests have an enjoyable stay. If you like working with people and you want to work in tourism, this could be the job for you. There aren't any specific entry requirements to get into this job, but you will usually need to have some experience of working in a hotel, restaurant or bar.
Entry Requirements: A good general education may help you to find work, and GCSE grades A to E can be useful, especially in English and maths. However, it’s not essential to have any particular qualifications to become a cruise ship steward, and relevant work experience will benefit you just as well. Customer service is an important part of the role, so most cruise liners will expect you to have worked in a customer service job before. Some employers might want you to have experience of working as a hotel room attendant. Most employers will accept relevant work experience in a hotel, restaurant or bar. Some employers might prefer you to have qualifications, such as:
Level 1 (NVQ) Certificate in Accommodation Services
Level 1 Award in General Housekeeping Operations
You can apply to companies directly, or through agencies that recruit for cruise liners. There can be a lot of competition for jobs, so the more relevant experience you have, the greater chance you have of finding work.

Carnival UK Culinary Apprenticeships
Carnival UK are looking for suitably qualified and motivated young people (aged 17 – 23 years) to work
and train as apprentice chefs on prestigious cruise ships.
In order to be eligible for this fantastic opportunity, applicants must:
• Hold Level 2 qualifications in cookery and food preparation including a Food Safety
qualification
• Have Level 2 in English and in Maths
• Be able to pass medical entry requirements as defined in international regulations
Salary: £10,000
Annual leave entitlement: 161 hours of annual leave and 56 hours of Bank holidays. This is based on a 7
hour day.
The training programme will run for two years. Apprentice chefs will work aboard ship training
alongside with world class chefs and will receive training from expert chef lecturers at City College
during their time on shore.

You can apply for a traineeship if you’re: Eligible to work in England
unemployed and have little or no work experience aged 16 to 18 and qualified below Level 3, or aged 19 to 24 and qualified below
Level 2
A traineeship is a course to get you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can take up to 6 months.
You’ll get: Help with English and maths (if you need it)
a work experience placement lasting at least 6 weeks
You won’t be paid, but your employers can sometimes give you expenses for things like travel and meals.
