For the week ending: Friday 22nd June, 2018
Dear Parents As we draw to the end of the year, I am reminded of how far the girls have come both academically and personally. With the different activities that they have been involved in, girls have faced success and failure; winning and losing; euphoria and disappointment both in and out of the classroom. It is all part of their preparation for life and it helps our daughters tremendously if we support them as they learn to manage their feelings as they hit those highs and lows. Gracious behaviour against arrogance for winning or achieving is a characteristic that we admire and applaud. Resignation and acceptance against tears and tantrums for losing or failing, is also to be encouraged. I have seen much evidence of these character strengths in the girls – it makes me very proud!

FIII Assembly – Endangered Species
Earlier this week, Form III held a wonderful, assembly about endangered species and what we can do to help protect them and preserve our planet. The girls have done their research and came up with lots of ideas - we can recyle more, walk instead of driving and think carefully when buying souvenirs - no ivory! We
wore animal themed clothes with snakes winding around our shoulders to make our point, and parents helped by participating in our quiz. Thank you girls for giving us lots to think about, to our parents for coming to support us and to Mrs Baker for organising such a thought-provoking and
informative assembly.
FV – Fundraising for the RSPCA
Very well done indeed to our FV girls who raised a fantastic
£258.27 for the RSPCA during a recent school event. The
RSPCA have sent a certificate and a letter of thanks to the
girls, in recognition of their hard work.
An Urgent Request
Does anyone have a wheelchair that we can borrow for

know asap. Thank you
Aberdour Rounders Tournament - 20/6/18.
A report by Nicole Kravtsov, FV
On Wednesday 20th June, Form V had a rounders tournament, hosted by Aberdour, against lots of other schools. The first match was against Seaton House B team. SH A team won 7 ½ - 5 ½, after some excellent throws and a great ‘stamp’ from Lucie H on the third post. Feeling confident, they proceeded to their next match against Chinthurst. They went and tried their hardest, and all the hard work paid off! After some great passing from Shriya to Maya D, they managed to get the majority of them out, only allowing them to get 3 ½ rounders. On SH’s go, they made some great choices, batting the ball in all directions, with some great hits from Nicole and some speedy runs from Matilda R and Ellie H. They got 5 rounders. After that, they went on to play the Aberdour A team. They were, unfortunately, unsuccessful, but they persevered and showed great sportsmanship. There were some great runs from Lucy and great hits from Zoe and Sequoia. They lost 11 ½ to 5. Then they went on to compete against their final opponents, Aberdour B, knowing that if they won that match, they would have been second overall (out of 5 school teams) They persevered until the end, hitting and batting every ball that came their way and catching and stumping when they were fielding. After some great bats from Tabytha and a great ‘bowl’ from Maya T, they won 9 ½ - 4, putting them in second place overall. All in all, they did AMAZINGLY WELL!!! Thank you Nicole for this wonderful report. The matches were so exciting -
well done girls!

Flute Tuition Availability For September and Free Taster Lessons
Flute lessons at Seaton House are extremely popular and I will have a limited number of spaces available for any girls currently in reception through to year 6 who would like to learn flute at school (or privately, outside of school hours if you prefer). Flute has consistently been a very successful instrument here at Seaton House with many students leaving year 6 with grade 6 level reached and a number of senior school music scholarships won over the years in flute. Lessons are on an individual basis and I take every care to ensure that lessons have very little impact on pupils’ school day by using as much non-lesson time as possible (breaks, early birds, lunchtime, assemblies etc.) and avoiding any core lesson time. If you are interested in your daughter taking up flute but would like her to have a ‘free taster lesson’ before you decide please contact me via email as soon as possible to arrange. For further information, tuition fees for September, flute rental or purchase advice and any other questions you might have please contact me directly to discuss.
Private Recorder Tuition Availability For September Any girls currently in Reception to year 3 who would like the opportunity to learn to read music and play the recorder should contact me as soon as possible as there are limited spaces available for tuition in September. Lessons are on an individual basis and I use a special colour-coded tuition method to teach younger children to read music easily. The recorder is a nice easy instrument to learn and is good for those tiny hands to get to grips with. Many use learning the recorder as a stepping stone to move on to main orchestral instruments such as flute, clarinet, etc. later on when a little older. If you would like your child to learn the recorder, please contact me to reserve a place for next term. However, if you would like your daughter to have a go on the recorder first, I can arrange a free taster lesson. For further information, tuition fees for September, advice, etc. and any other questions you might have please contact me via email directly to discuss. Thank you

GDPR – New Rules and Regulations.
Thank you very much to all parents who have filled in and returned the Consent Questionnaire which was sent out before half term. If you haven’t completed it yet, please do return it to us at the school office, as soon as possible. If you need another copy of the
form, please email me on: [email protected] and I will send one out to you or print one out and put it in your daughter’s bag. Please be aware that if you tick yes to using your daughter’s photo on the school
newsletter but no to putting her photo on the school website, then that means we
cannot use the picture, as all newsletters are posted on our website.
If you change your mind at any point about how we keep and use your daughter’s information and photographs, it’s no problem - just pop into the school office to amend your
form or call us on: 020 8642 2332.
Thank you.
