We are committed to providing an end to end certification process which covers every aspect of the consumer’s journey starting from the manufacture of products through to the installation. Our objective is to be the leading certification scheme in our field, gain and maintain UKAS accreditation and support our members to truly differentiate themselves from their competitors.

Energy Storage Certification & Standards

Certi-fi is a UK certification scheme specialising in the certification of energy storage devices (including associated operating technologies, interfaces, software, etc.), infrared heating devices (including associated operating technologies, switches, controllers, heating management systems) and energy performance calculations (for products that generate, save or store energy).

The UK is facing a shortage of electricity at peak times which could lead to blackouts or brownouts next winter. The British government and Ofgem are looking for solutions to this problem. What is needed is a way to load shift power, from periods of excess capacity to peak periods, to level the grid. We are working towards viable solutions to solve some of the UK energy networks problems (aggregation, storage, domestic renewable generation, CO2 reduction, etc.).

We are evolving a certification standard for domestic energy storage products (from product, sale, performance and install) in order to smooth the transition to domestic energy storage deployment. We want to ensure that key stakeholders (Government, National Grid, DNO, Ofgem, EMA, Consumers, Manufacturers, Finance) have, and retain, confidence in the energy storage sector.

As a member of Certi-fi you will be at the forefront of the UK Energy Storage Deployment plans which require a coordinated, controlled, certified network in order for all stakeholders to achieve the results required. Certi-fi will be a key factor in leading the UK towards efficient, and effective energy storage deployment.

We certify products within the renewable sector. Our philosophy is to ensure the product is fit for purpose, can last its warranty period and perform in accordance with its claims. We look at how the product has been tested, evaluate your factory production controls and visit your factory to undertake an initial audit. With the sector changing by the introduction of new technologies it’s important we, as an industry, provide confidence across the supply chain and starting with the product is the first step.

Certi-fi is open to manufacturers of all types of renewable technologies including battery storage, boilers, heat pumps, infrared, solar, thermodynamics, voltage optimisers, solar immersion controllers and inverters. We are working closely with the major finance lenders to ensure that existing and new products that receive certification can be financed.

We offer a comprehensive certification service for contractors installing renewable technologies. The installer is assessed by the certification body to ensure they are able to install the renewable technology in line with the Certi-fi standards. Your business practices are assessed and an onsite inspection is performed for a previous installation. All Certi-fi installers are measured against the specific technical standard for the technology they wish to be certified for. The certification involves evaluating the supply, design, installation and commissioning of renewable technologies.

Certi-fi is open to installers who require certification for renewable technologies in order for their customers to take advantage of current government incentives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed in Tariffs (FITs).

SALES & MARKETING SCHEMEWe believe that everyone should have access to information which is clear, fair and concise. All advertisements, promotional literature, websites and other collateral should not contain misleading information. Our solution is the Certi-fi Clarity Mark which demonstrates that your documentation has been through Certi-fi to ensure its accuracy. We look at the language used, the design and any figures are backed up with evidence for the intended audience. Once your literature or website has been approved you will receive the Clarity Mark logo along with a unique identification number to use in order to promote that your information is clear.

The Certi-fi Clarity Mark is open to installers, manufacturers and any other stakeholders operating within the home improvement sector who are looking for a quality mark to add value to their sales and marketing collateral.

CERTIFIED HOME IMPROVEMENT ADVISOR SCHEMEWe certify advisors who work in the renewable market to make sure they are technically, financially and ethically competent. Consumers know that the CHIA representative in their home has been approved, is monitored regularly and agrees to keep to the certification standard. All CHIA advisors carry a Certi-fi ID card with a unique reference number allowing consumers to check the credentials of the advisor on the online register and provide feedback on their own experiences.

CHIA is open to sales people, surveyors and any customer-facing staff operating within the home improvement sector.

Certified Home Improvement Advisor

The Energy Performance Validation Scheme (EPVS) ensures that consumers are not receiving overinflated energy generation, storage and saving calculations from retailers when buying renewable products like Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pumps, Battery Storage, etc. EPVS ensures that all performance calculations are accurate and valid by checking the contractual paperwork, performance figures and monetary savings/generation stated on the contract.

EPVS is open to installers, finance lenders and any other stakeholders who are looking to provide consumers with accurate performance estimates and monetary savings.
