Designed by architect Henry A. Schulze and constructed in 1900, this beautiful Romanesque Revival one-time church was completely refurbished in 2017 and is now zoned as “mixed-use” by the City of Oakland. It’s easy to appreciate the original architecture and the creative repurposing of this stunning structure, all while preserving its historic fabric. The light-filled auditorium is sweepingly proportioned and is approximately of equal length and width. Its ceiling is constructed with two wide, elliptical cross vaults, and is dominated by rose and semi-circular stained glass windows. The handsome curved stairway leading to the auditorium balcony has the original, slender turned-oak balusters and intricately carved top band and finials. Private offices occupy the north end of the building, and the building contains two fireplaces.
