We urgently need more ushers to help at all masses

to ensure we comply with all COVID protocols.

We also need ushers for the forthcoming First Communions & Confirmations

If we do not have ushers we may have to consider cancelling masses

If you can help or know anyone who could help

even only occasionally please contact Fr. Mike

    Fabric & Maintenance

Just like any home we need to carry out routine

maintenance in the house, church and gardens.

We currently have only one pensioner doing what he

can but he cannot do it all on his own.

There must be parishioners with the skills needed to

help us in the upkeep of our church.

We are asking anyone who can help in any way even just

a few hours occasionally to contact Fr. Mike so we can

try to keep on top of the maintenance of the church

Remember it is YOUR CHURCH please help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Fr. Mike & Parish Pastoral Council.

F I R S T C O M M U N I O N S & C O N F I R M AT I O N S N E W S Those involved already know the challenges and difficulties we are having to organise the Sacraments that should have been celebrated back in June. We have made a tremendous effort to avoid putting them off until next year. This has involved a tremendous effort on the part of teacher and catechist as most of the formation and preparation due to lockup had not been done. We have had to organise of concentrat-ed learning and an enormous thanks to parents, children and teacher/catechist. We are trying our best that the celebration of both these sacraments is a special day for the children. However, we hope parents will explain to them very carefully that this day will not be the way we would like. Because of the restrictions imposed on the Church we are limited in what we can do and we have major restrictions regarding capacity in the church. Just to give you an idea: Children will have to wear masks in the church Only enter by ticket The 2m social distancing rule must be applied. There will be no first communion breakfast in the hall. Hopefully everyone will understand, collaborate and help make the children have a wonderful and mem-orable day. Parents and children should already know the following

FIRST COMMUNIONS: SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2020 AT 3PM Tickets will be given to 3 people only for each child. Please come early.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION SUNDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2020 AT 10 AM .

We are at full capacity so unfortunately there is no space for parishioners or other members of the family or relatives.

BOTH MASSES WILL BE ON YOUTUBE LIVE. (St Bernadettes Parish Tullibody)

WE ARE RELYING ON EXTRA USHERS

Fr. Mike may need to ask some people to prepare some food especially if the bishop stays overnight.

In all parishes please arrive early for mass as you need time to leave your contact tracing information.

Remember that for the time being the Sunday Mass obligation does not exist, there are alternatives.

We will also have morning mass on Mon, Wed, Thurs & Saturday mornings at 9.30am which at least gives parish-

ioners the opportunity to attend a “Live” mass in the Church, at some time. We will also continue with our live

broadcast YouTube mass at 11.30 each Sunday morning.

THIS MAY BE THE “NEW NORMAL” FOR SOME CONSIDERABLE TIME

As general principles we suggest the following for you to consider:

Those who are over seventy years of age or “shielding” because of their general health should think carefully

about the appropriateness of attending Mass.

Perhaps consider coming to a weekday rather than Sunday Mass which may be quieter.

Join us for our 11.30 Sunday Mass online on YouTube which will continue to be available on Sunday morning.

Consider visiting the church for private prayer rather than attending Mass.

    ROSARY from St. Bernadette’s

    Thursdays at 6.30pm on YouTube

Fr. Mike every Thursday says a class mass in the school and sometimes does a video clip to be shown in the classrooms. This week it was on St. Ninian whose feast day we celebrate.

A TRAINING SESSION WILL BE HELD IN THE CHURCH ON MONDAY 21st SEPT

AT 7pm FOR EXISTING AND NEW USHERS TO COVER ALL COVID PROTOCOLS

AND THE FORTHCOMING FIRST COMMUNIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS.

  • PMS SPECIAL ENVOY FOR FORB HAS RESIGNED

Earlier this week, the PMs Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief (FORB)

handed in his resignation to the Prime Minister.

In this role, Rehman Chishti MP has been a tireless advocate on freedom of religion

or belief for the last 12 months and has implemented 17 of the 22 recommendations

from the 2019 Bishop of Truro review on the persecution of Christians.

In the light of his sudden resignation, therefore, we don’t want to miss the oppor-

tunity to call on the UK Government to replace him as soon as possible with a mem-

ber of parliament who will continue his work with equal dedication and enthusiasm.

As persecution has been exacerbated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is vital

that the baton is picked up as rapidly as possible and the post is fully resourced to

    ensure maximum effectiveness.

Act now to ask your MP to call on the Prime Minister to appoint a new Special Envoy

    as soon as possible.

It would be great if a new Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief were al-

ready up to speed on this vital task by the time of the Open Doors World Watch List

launch event on Wednesday 13 January – and making a difference for those made so

vulnerable to persecution by the failure to uphold freedom of religion or belief.

So, write to your MP today to ensure that progress continues to be made on free-

dom of religion or belief and that it remains a priority for UK Government.
