NOAA’s 250-foot research vessel Okeanos Explorer, its crew and scientists will be
homeported at the Business Park’s Pier 1.
The Okeanos, NOAA’s fi rst vessel dedicated to exploration, will work closely with
the University of Rhode Island’s School of Oceanography and Inner Space Center
creating a scientifi c hub for ocean exploration in Southern Rhode Island.
The Okeanos Explorer’s mission to map the physical, biological, chemical and
archeological aspects of the ocean is supported by a new research and offi ce
building in the Business Park that provides additional space for
experiments, equipment and storage.
Transforming 3,160 acres of former
Navy bases into a thriving business park.

making Quonset’s Port of Davisville the 5th largest auto importer in
North America.
• Toray Plastics America has its 70 acre corporate headquarters at the

land resources and easy highway access. It has expanded its network
