Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region is licensed under CHAPTER 28C.10 RCW through the Workforce Training and Education Board.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Retail Skills Program provides skill enhancement and/or training at your level of knowledge and abilities. You can begin the program at any time. The program length is typically 30-90 days at 6-8 hours per day.

Retail Skills offers training in:• Best practices in customer service

• Cash register skills on a point-of-sale system

• Cash register operations and maintenance

• Merchandising

• Safety and security procedures

• Hands-on instruction in retail environment

• Clerking duties

• Merchandise handling

• Donation Attendant

FUNDING

Most individuals referred to Goodwill for training are funded by an external agency. If you wish to participate as your own payee, you may do so, or you may apply for a scholarship. Scholarships are available to qualifying participants. Please contact the Instructor for further information.

TEACH

The Training, Experience and Career Help program is available to qualified Retail Skills Participants through internship

opportunities at Goodwill. Working with a case manager, participants receive professional, personalized attention and on-going work training.

The TEACH program will vary the length of the internship by individual need, but will not exceed 18 months.

TEACH Eligibity and Admission:• Must qualify through Retail Skills

training program.

• Possess a basic level of cognitive function to  perform available work.

• Adults 18 and older who are ready to work.

• Agreement to adhere to attendance, behavior  and other policies.

• Must be able to provide documentation for  I-9  (Employment Eligibility Verification).

• Able to pass criminal background check for  crimes against persons.

• Must be able to pass pre-employment and  random drug screens.

• Must possess basic English skills.

• Must be able to meet the physical demands  of available jobs.

• Have reliable transportation.
