Due to a low inventory of keyboxes, REIN has ini𑬁ated a mandatory recall of all excesskeyboxes which are not in use or assigned to a property. Members in possession of excesskeyboxes to be returned have been no𑬁fied via le촁er sent to their address on file with a list ofthe keyboxes involved. Please note ‐ this is a recall of REIN keyboxes only, and does not affectVPAR keyboxes.
The deadline to return keyboxes to REIN is Friday, September 23, 2016.
Failure to return the required excess keyboxes by deadline will result in the following charges:
$120 Excess Keybox Recall Fee per unreturned box, AND$15 Admin Fee per unreturned box

Keybox NoNo...Never Attach a Keybox to a Utility Fixture
Just a reminder, Lis𑬁ng Agents shouldnever a촁ach a keybox to a u𑬁lity fixture,such as gas or water meters, electricboxes, or other u𑬁lity lines. Doing soposes a safety concern and could causedamage to a property. REINrepresenta𑬁ves dispatched to a lis𑬁ng toremove a keybox will NOT handle anykeybox a촁ached to a gas meter, due tothe risk of the bolt cu촁ers on metalcrea𑬁ng a dangerous spark.
When placing a keybox on any property, please allow for plenty of SPACE on all sides of thekeybox...
ABOVE ‐ Leave room to insert your hand above the shackle, push down on it, and pullup to remove the shackle completely from the box.BELOW‐ Leave room for the key container to drop down to easily remove the key.SIDES ‐ In the off‐chance that you cannot remove the keybox from the property yourself,a REIN contractor may need to be called in to cut‐off the shackle. Make sure there isenough space for the bolt cu촁ers to fit/cut on both sides of the shackle.
