INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION Footwear consists of garments worn on the feet. Footwear is considered as important as basic needs. People who practice the profession of shoe making are SHOEMAKER or COBBLER.

• Early humans wrapped their feet with dried leaves, animal skin or leather they obtained from the wild to protect their feet from the harsh environment.

• Egyptians created sandals which led to the creation of other forms of footwear.

• Now wide range of shoes are made including athletic shoes, boots, leather shoes, lace-up and safety footwear.

• Safety footwear is an essential item for those working in industrial plants and construction sites.
