FUTVAC is used to control foot-and-mouth disease in cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats.

COMPOSITION: FUTVAC contains inactivated FMO virus antigens of types '0' (strain INO R2/75), '/'\ (strain INO 40/2000)and 'Asia1' (strain INO 63/72) with potency z 6.0 PO". The viruses are propagated on BHK-21 cell culture, inactivated withaziridine compound before purification and concentration. Mineral oil (ISA Montanide 206 from Seppic, France) is added asan adjuvant and Thimerosal (:50.02%w/v) as a preservative .

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: 2 ml in cattle and buffaloes; 1 ml in sheep and goats. For deep intramuscular use only.Shake well before use.

VACCINATION SCHEDULE:For Cattle, Buffaloes, Sheep & Goats: Primary Vaccination: 4 months of age and above. Booster Dose: 9 months afterprimary vaccination andRe-Vaccination: Annual

VACCINATION OF PREGNANT ANIMALS: FUTVAC can be used in vaccination of pregnant animals. However to be onsafer side, the vaccination ofthe animals in advanced pregnancy may be avoided.

IMMUNITY: Immunity is conferred for 9 months. However, half-yearly vaccination is recommended in endemic areas as perthe OIE guidelines .

PRECAUTIONS: Immunize only healthy animals. Malnutrition, infestation with worms, administration ofimmunosuppressive agents such as corticosteroids or radiotherapy will interfere with the immune response to vaccine.

POST-VACCINATION REACTIONS: Generally, there are no adverse reactions noticed. Occasionally a transient palpableswelling may occur at the site of injection, which will subside in 24-48 hours.

STORAGE & TRANSPORT: Store and transport the vaccine between +2°C and +8°C until use. At no stage should thevaccine be allowed to freeze. Protect from sunlight.

SHELF LIFE: 2 years (24 months) from the date of manufacture.

PRESENTATION: Multidose vial containing 30 ml-15 Cattle doses and 100 ml- 50 Cattle doses ,.,30 ml- 30 Sheep & Goat doses and 100 ml- 100 Sheep & Goat doses.

• SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE Shake well the bottle of vaccine before use in order to ensure thoroughhomogenization

• USE SEPARATE NEEDLES to draw the vaccine from vials and to inject into animals .

• ADMINISTER VACCINE by deep intramuscular route only, through an area of clean, dry skin taking precautionsagainst contamination.

• FUTVAC is thoroughly tested before release into the market. Under field conditions, it is extremely difficultto avoid the accidental introduction of bacteria when withdrawing doses of FUTVAC from the bottles .Part-used bottles of vaccines should therefore be discarded at the end of the day's operation.

• STORE and transport the vaccine at +2°C to +8°C. The antigenicity of the vaccine deteriorates if thetemperature is allowed to rise above this range. At no stage should the vaccine be allowed to freeze .

• AVOID usage if the vaccine is discolored due to phase separation into oil and water.

• ADVERSE REACTIONS such as swelling at the site of inoculation or shivering or shock in rare cases,if observed, do treat immediately with antihistamines, corticosteroids and/or epinephrine.

• INJECTION of mineral oil into humans can produce serious localized reactions and special care should betaken to avoid accidental inoculation. If it happens, consult a physician immediately .
