How do you judge a person’s character? Or maybe a better question whom do you judge? Is it only certain people who garner your scrutiny, those that may not look “normal” in the traditional sense of the word or everyone? While I would say that I am a fairly good judge of character if the last year has taught me anything it’s that I am not as good as I thought! Which is not a bad thing, just an area that I know I need to work on and improve. I have noticed that those people I would have “judged” to not be worthy of judgment because they “appear” to be on the right track are in fact the ones you need to keep the closest eye on and it’s some of the non-traditional folks that you judge on sight who do not deserve your scrutiny. I would say that I am not a judgmental person in that I am accepting of all types of lifestyles, personalities and people, but maybe we should all be a little more selective about whom to trust and how to avoid potential conflicts that we create for ourselves in relaying too much information to folks that we have deemed to be appropriate on our trust-o-meter. I know that people are reading this and thinking “but I don’t judge people,” but if you are truly honest with yourself, even if you cannot admit it aloud, you do judge. Even if it’s just judging people’s reactions to you, that is judgment. In a perfect world maybe we wouldn’t have to live with all the politics (loosely used in this sense) of working with other people but in the world we have we do have to work with one another which in my opinion does require a certain amount of “people savvy” if you don’t want to use the “j” word. I watched my first episode of Toddlers & Tiaras this week, filmed in Vidalia, St. Mary’s and Mcintyre, and I can honestly say (sorry if anyone is related to these people) that I used extreme judgment to determine some of these people are outright crazy and the rest are a little touched in the head. So words to remember: if you come around me with your tiara on you WILL be harshly judged! Happy weekend! By: Leah Poole
Fort Stewart is encouraging a partnership with local business organizations and Liberty County schools in the prevention of Identity Theft. To support this collaborative effort and to raise security awareness
Fort Stewart is promoting community participation in the quarterly "Shred It - Don't Share It" Day.
The risk of printed Personally Identifiable Information (PII) being compromised is a constant threat. Identity Theft in many cases is a low tech crime accomplished through dumpster diving for PII.
Mechanical shredding of documents is a secure method in preventing the compromise of personal data.
The Fort Stewart sponsored "Shred It" event is open to all business organizations and schools to assist in the secure disposal of unwanted documents. Paper documents will be collected and shredded beyond reconstruction at the Fort Stewart Processing Station. No fee or appointment is required.
No Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) or classified information will be
processed during the event.

Dear Business Owner,
The Hinesville Police Department is reaching out to citizens and businesses that can make a difference in our
community. We strive to bring people together who are willing to work to make and keep Hinesville/Liberty
County a clean, safe place to live. May is nationally designated as Safe Kids’ month. Efforts are made throughout
the Country to promote the prevention of accidental and unintentional injury to children. Each year more than 1
million children across the globe die and many more are injured in preventable accidents.
In observance of Safe Kids’ Week, on Saturday, May 5, 2012 beginning at 8:00 a.m., the Hinesville Police
Department will sponsor a 5k fun run. Then from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., HPD will sponsor Safe Kids’ Day; a
family oriented event featuring fun, creative ways to educate the public on child safety. This will include
fingerprinting children for Ident-a-kits, bicycle safety, information on the penalties for driving drunk, proper
installation of infant car seats, information on the Neighborhood Watch program, gun locks and gun safety and
much more! The Fire Safety House will also be on-site to teach children about what to do in case of a house fire.
In previous years this event has drawn large crowds and it is our hope that this year will be no exception.
This event seeks to bring together the community and local businesses with a common goal, which is to protect
our children. Events like this are very costly to present but extremely valuable to our Citizens; therefore, we are
asking for your help. We need your support by way of monetary contributions, volunteerism, donations of goods
and vender booths.
Please take a moment to look over the attached sponsorship package, decide how you can help, and contact
Officer James Williams, Crime Prevention Officer for the Hinesville Police Department at (912) 876-8211 no
later than March 2, 2012 to let him know if you or your business would like to be a part of this worthwhile event.
You may prefer to mail it back to us along with your check to: Hinesville Police Dept. Attn: Officer James
Williams, 123 E. M.L. King Jr. Drive, Hinesville, GA 31313. Thank you for your time and continued commitment
to the City of Hinesville and the Hinesville Police Department.
Sincerely,
George Stagmeier

Liberty County Convention & Visitors Bureau
For Immediate Release: December 19, 2011 Contact: Leah Poole, CEO, Liberty County Chamber of Commerce/Liberty County Convention &
Visitors Bureau; [email protected]; 912.368.4445 HINESVILLE, GA. The Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors is pleased to announce that effective December 19, 2011, they have formed a memorandum of understanding with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce to partner together in order to increase tourism development in Liberty County. “This partnership will save both parties money on things like salaries, office supplies, office equipment, rent, etc. and will really enable the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Chamber to run even more effectively,” said Sandra Martin, Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), Board Chairman. The partnership is a formal agreement that will not dissolve either entity as it currently exists, meaning that each entity will maintain its own finances, with separate accounting systems and that neither party would be liable for debts or obligations of the other. “The board feels that this is really a step in the right direction,” said Martin. The Tourism Product Resource Team that visited in February of 2011 also identified in their 104-page report presented to the community back in March the fact that the Chamber and the CVB are often partners in other communities and that the, “Liberty County Chamber can be the hero in launching and supporting the Hinesville/Liberty County Convention & Visitors Bureau” (page 89). They further explained that working together both organizations have economic impact as a common goal and that in order to have an effective tourism program in any community the Chamber staff and members must be “committed and supportive.” According to figures compiled by the Team for 2009, the most current data available, tourism in Liberty County has generated 570 jobs, produced $11.72 million in payroll, created $2.97 million in state tax revenue and generated $2.59 million in local tax revenue. “We are very excited about this opportunity and feel that the mission and vision of the Chamber are similar to that of the CVB, which is to see our local businesses, trade and industry do well, while increasing the cultural, civic, educational and overall quality of life of its citizens. The Chamber and its’ 500+ members are committed to enhancing the local business climate and maintaining a high quality of life in the community,” said Kevin Thomas, Liberty County Chamber Board Chairman. Established in 2007 the Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau first operated under the guidance of a part-time director who split her time as the Downtown Development Authority Director before moving to Alaska. A full time director was hired in 2008 and the office has been vacant of staff leadership since May of 2010. The joint organization will maintain offices as they currently exist inside the Liberty County Development Authority, and the only significant change immediately noticeable will be the addition of a staff person to act as Program Assistant for the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
