Who We Are

The UW-Sheboygan Foundation is an organization founded in 1978 to support the programs and activities of the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan through fund development and advocacy. Since 1978 the Foundation’s board of local citizens has worked with staff and faculty to identify sources of support for the campus and its students.

The primary effort of the Foundation is to raise funds for scholarships for deserving students, many of whom juggle work and family responsibilities in addition to their schoolwork. Through its ongoing fundraising efforts, the Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support student scholarships. The Foundation, in partnership with generous community members, builds and revitalizes campus facilities for the betterment of educational experiences.

A Brighter Future for Families

Offering individuals the chance to improve themselves through higher education gives them the ability to make sound, informed decisions, broadens opportunities for better-paying jobs, and more. Higher education gives people the chance to expand their impact at work, at home, and in the communities where they live.

Higher education is contagious, too! The positive influence of parents and family members who have attended college encourages children to do the same.

Why UW-Sheboygan Matters

Our students receive a private-school experience at a very affordable rate. UW Colleges is the leader in transfer student success. UW Colleges students who transfer within the UW System have a 10% higher graduation rate than the average among students who attend four-year public institutions.

We do really well in preparing students for success!

Donations made to the campus through the Foundation have a direct impact on students’ educational experience and how well they are prepared to enter the workforce. Some areas where donations have enhanced the UW-Sheboygan experience include:

• Classroom Instruction (updated technology, new facilities)

Money problems can be a major source of disagreement in a couple’s relationship. We’ll talk about how differing money styles and values may lead to unnecessary strain and how to improve communication and relationship skills so that partners can work together to find a solution.

Color Field Painting: The Power of Color When Combined with Pattern

Learn about color theory, the history of the use of color in visual art, and its use in everyday life from the living space to workplace to marketplace. A hands-on project will explore the potential impact of color juxtapositions.

David Louzecky, Professor of Philosophy

Artificial Intelligence and gene editing will eliminate most jobs, and with them income and health care. Given that education is preparation for the workforce, my question is, “What should we do about education?” Please think about this before class and come prepared to discuss.

Immigration Policy and American Identity

Alise Coen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Political Science

Debates surrounding immigration in U.S. politics reveal competing perceptions of what it means to be an American. This presentation will discuss the evolution of U.S. immigration policy and explore what these policies reveal about changing constructions of American identity over time.
