"Water is the most cost effective transport solution and a lot of projects have already taken off in seven rivers. In road transport our motive is to improve the quality and reduce the cost of construction," he added. The guest of honour, Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, in his keynote address, said that patience and solidarity towards honest endeavours of the government are required. "If change is the only constant then courageous decisions need to be taken and the government is working hard in that direction," he said. Sunil Kant Munjal, President, AIMA and Chairman, The Hero Enterprise, set the tone for the deliberations to follow for two days. Elaborating the theme, he said: "It's not just the competition one has to work on in the industry but also think of who is getting to the future first." He said that for AIMA it was a year to celebrate as well as think of its future and how to link it closer to India's future. "It is said that only change is constant but the pace of change is also changing. And this rapid change is giving us enormous opportunities and at the same time some completely new challenges," he added. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Government of India, said that we are in the midst of biggest technological transitions the world has ever seen and we need to push these limits in many areas. But we cannot grow without gender parity; predictability, consistency, and clarity of policies over a long period of time; and penetration into the global market. "India needs to have optimism, courage, guts and determination to push for change and that change through technology will enable India to grow rapidly," he asserted. Earlier, Sudhir Jalan, Co- Chairman, Diamond Jubilee NMC and Chairman, Neo Foods Pvt. Ltd., and Rekha Sethi, Director General, All India Management Association, addressed the audience. Before T.V. Mohandas Pai, Senior Vice President, AIMA and Chairman, Manipal Global Education Services, concluded the inaugural session, the Special First Day Cover and Postage Stamp to commemorate AIMA's Diamond Jubilee Year was released.
