Focus: Tempted by Transfiguration
After last Sunday’s account of Jesus’ trials in the dessert, today we hear of his
Transfiguration. It was doing the Father’s will that he desired, not status,
wealth or power.

I mentioned it at one mass last weekend but forgot for two. I met with my urologist last week. He’s happy with my healing, outside and in, and it looks like there’s no more cancer. The bad news is that my kidney did not grow back.
Lent is in full swing and so are the fish fries. The count was low last week. And there was only one glitch. A takeout order was passed to the kitchen and then a second. When the orders came to the takeout table the second man took the first man’s order. Not happy. Sorry about that We do apologize to the first man and hope you come back to give us a second chance.
With March begins this season’s county confession schedule. Keep your eye on the bulletin for a time convenient to you.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL CONFERENCE
Lent is a call not just to "give up something" but more important to "give something for the poor." Wherever you live there are poor families near your home. When in need, they call our St. Vincent de Paul phone line. They are, in effect,
calling your phone. This month, through your gifts, the St. Augustine Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist many families, providing help with food, rent, utilities, and other bills.
God Bless You For Answering Their Call! Our next meeting is Thursday, March 15 at 7 pm i

GIFT Growing In Faith Together
Grades 6-8
St. Augustine Youth Ministry Lent has begun. We began class with a group prayer. We learned about the three pillars of Lent - prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We learned about the virtue of prayerfulness. Prayerfulness
is being still, listening, and being willing to talk to God as a friend. We learned some ways to practice prayerfulness. We also watched a short video about Majd, a little boy in Iraq, and how our Rice Bowl donations are helping his family. It's help-ing to make his school safe, to have access to clean water and training teachers.
The third grade class went to church to pray the Stations of the Cross.
Class meets this Tuesday, February 27. Preschool/Kindergarten
Last Sunday we learned about how Jesus went to the desert to pray and afterward left to share the Good News - God loves everyone!!
NO class this week. Happy Donut Day!
Confirmation met last Wednesday. Our lesson was about Mary - Meeting the Mother of God and your heavenly family. We took some quiet time to learn and pray the rosary. Saturday we were back at the Soup Kitchen in Flint.
Please pray for us next week-end. 22 of our teens will be on retreat at Subiaco Retreat House March 2-4.
