WELCOME TO HARROW BANGKOK BY HEADMASTER On behalf of everyone at Harrow International School Bangkok, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and teachers from the schools participating in the FOBISIA Primary Games. It is a special honour for our School to host such an auspicious occasion, and the timing couldn’t be better; we have recently completed a host of new sports facilities, including a covered athletics area, the Den, all of which I am sure will form the backdrop for three days of good sportsmanship, perseverance and teamwork. These games are often referred to as the friendly games, and for good reason, as I am very confident that visiting schools from all over the region - China, Hong Kong, Brunei, South Korea, Philippines and Thailand – will find that a welcoming, supportive spirit permeates every aspect of the games. The Harrow Bangkok values of Leadership, Team Work, Service, Resilience and Creativity form the core of our sporting philosophy, and I am sure we will see all of these attributes in everyone involved in the FOBISIA Friendly Games 2016. There are 900 medals to be won, so good luck to all, and go for gold!

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to the A3 Primary FOBISIA Games hosted at Harrow Bangkok. We very much hope that all students, coaches, parents and family members have a thoroughly enjoyable Games and enjoy their time in the Kingdom of Thailand. The Primary FOBISIA ‘Friendly’ Games is all about students having fun, trying their best, enjoying the competition and making new friends from schools across Asia. The Games should be played in the correct spirit by students. Coaches should applaud all positive performances and parents should appreciate the effort that is going in from all schools competing. Yes, in all sport winning is great – but the most important thing is being here, trying your hardest and enjoying being part of a very special event. We hope that every single person enjoys their time at the A3 Primary FOBISIA Games 2016 and we very much look forward to welcoming each and every one of you.

Athletics Rules

In each event (except relay events) there will be 2 competitors A & B of which A will be the stronger athlete. IAAF rules can be accessed at http://www.iaaf.org/downloads/IAAFhandbook/ All athletes will participate in the Shuttle Relay. Thereafter, athletes may enter a maximum of 2 events. General Rules • If competitors are entered in both a track and a field event or in more than one field event taking place simultaneously, the judges may allow them to participate in an order different from that decided upon prior to the competition. High jump must, however, take precedence. • In throwing or jumping for distance no competitor is allowed to have more than one attempt recorded in any one round of the competition. • In the field events each competitor may be allowed up to three practice attempts and in all the events except high jump they will be allowed three attempts which go towards their best and final result. • Once the competition has begun, competitors are not permitted to use the runways or take-off areas for practice or warm up purposes, nor are they permitted to use throwing sites for practice trials, with or without implements. All events will take place under IAAF Competition rules with the following exceptions:

Scoring - ‘A’ races are of the value of 12pts – 7pts (1st place receiving 12pts through to 6th place receiving 7pts). - ‘B’ races are of the value of 6pts – 1pt (1st place receiving 6 pts through to 6th place receiving 1pt). - Relays are all worth double points (based on the value of the‘A’ race scoring system). - The round the post relay is a non-scoring event, but medals will be awarded.

FOBISIA Swimming Rules General Information Swimming will take place in an 8 lane 25m pool. The pool is 1.8m in the deep end and 1.2m in the shallow end. Students may dive off the blocks or start in the pool. The swimming will be timed on an electronic timing system with manual timing as back up. The Start As this is the friendly games, a 2 start rule will be applied.

- If there is 1 false start, all swimmers return to the start. - If there is a second false start, the race continues but the swimmer that performed the false start

will be disqualified at the end of the race.

General Rules - Meet officials will use discretion when disqualifying swimmers. - FINA Rules apply to medal winning swimmers. - If a swimmer is NOT in medal position and is NOT gaining from improper stroke technique the coach

should be told of the improper stroke technique and no DQ awarded. If the swimmer is not winning a medal and makes an improper turn, the position will stand. No DQ.

- All swimmers may enter a maximum of 6 events (including the novelty relay). Scoring

TEE-BALL SCHEDULE AND RULES

Tee-ball Rules General Rules

- A soft ball is used therefore no gloves are to be used and helmets are not required. An Easton Softouch 9” Cloth Incrediball will be used.

- Two innings required per game. 12 batters per team bat each inning. The same batting order must be kept for both innings of each game, with the batting order alternating between girl/boy or boy/girl.

- 12 fielders (6 girls and 6 boys). - There will be 12 fielders on the pitch with fielders in orthodox positions within the ‘infield’ and the

remaining 5 should be in the ‘outfield’ and not be allowed into the ‘infield’ until after the ball has been hit.

- The tournament is a round robin format. Tie Breaker In the case of a points tie the following criteria will be used to break the tie:

- Head to head result In the case of a draw or multi-way tie the following shall be applied to break the tie:

1. Run differential exclusively involving tied teams only; 2. Runs against, exclusively involving tied teams only; 3. Runs for, exclusively involving tied teams only; 4. Run differential involving all teams; 5. Runs against, involving all teams; 6. Runs for, involving all teams.

Scoring To determine the overall positions in each pool the points allocated will be: Win – 4 points, Draw – 2 points, Defeat – 1 point

Football Rules Game Length - All matches are 10 minutes in length. - All competitions are round robin, with the exception of Y6 boys as only 5 teams are competing. The

Y6 boys’ competition is a round robin, followed by play-offs: a final (1v2) and bronze medal playoff (3v4).

- In the Y6 boys play-offs, in the event of a draw at the end of normal time, the result of the match will be determined by the following process:

1 period of extra time lasting 5 minutes.

If after extra time the scores are still tied, the match will be decided by penalties. 3 penalties per team, with 3 players from each team that were on the pitch at the final whistle taking them. After the 3 penalties, if scores are still tied, it goes to sudden death.

Scoring To determine the overall positions in each pool the points allocated will be: Win – 4 points, Draw – 2 points, Defeat – 1 point Tie Breaking The deciding criteria for “breaking” a tie is as follows:

1. Head to head result 2. Points difference (goal difference) (between tied teams) 3. Goals scored (between tied teams) 4. Goals against (between tied teams)

If there is still a tie:

5. Goal difference (between all teams) 6. Goals scored (between all teams) 7. Goals against (between all teams)

The procedure for “breaking” a 3 way tie follows the same criteria as above. Once a tie break has been resolved additional ties will be resolved in the same format using the same sequence of procedures beginning with the head to head result (point 1).
